The straw hat is strong, there is no need to put wire, but there is a tinny rubber you can use if the straw is soft, you can get it where they are selling hat materials. Again if your straw hat is soft you can stiffener it to make it strong. Thank you for your comment.

You can use fishing line or thread. The cap is sow with tiny fishing line before l lose it, therefore use the same. Thanks
