That particular interface comes with a breakout cable that includes two balanced 1/4" outputs for studio monitors. Your interface may have different balanced outputs, like XLR.

Sure, I don't see why not. I mean, you'd probably get much better performance out of a better cable (especially a proper balanced cable), but as long as it works for you, feel free to try it.

You'll need balanced interconnects (TRS or XLR) coming from your interface's outputs.

For monitoring that closely at the desk, they should be fine there. The goal is typically to create an equilateral triangle between the speakers and the listener, with a slight toe-in. So maybe they could move a smidge, but seeing as how her chair brings her ears in fairly close to the desk, it ought to work for her purposes.

You tune them to your specific room to compensate for the acoustics of your recording space.

if you can tune a RP5 to sound like RP7 by extending the low end, why not?
