ACDelco spark plugs are made by NGK which are a bit cheaper to buy than the "brand name". Also new spark plugs usually recommend NOT using antiseize as they have a coating that does that already (check your spark plugs, but almost all NGK spark plugs have the coating already.)
Great Video , my 2000 Z71 has 308000 on it , I replaced the plugs and wires at 202000 , It has and still runs great and passed the emissions test 2 weeks ago , Thanks for the tech tips .

Has a check engine light and rough idle... yet your first instinct is just to throw money at a tune up? Dumb. If you've got a check engine light on CHECK IT FIRST that'll tell you what the problem is, and yes sometimes a tune up may fix it. But jeez, the vehicle is giving you clues as to what is causing a problem. And as far as tools go I LOVE my Kobalt stubby 3/8 ratchet!
My Silverado 1500 Ls has 233,359 miles. I’ve had it for about 6 months now and just changed the Sparks/wires for the first time on the vehicle. I’m assuming it was the first time because the previous spark plugs had the black triangle on the Tip. Well put in the exact same ones (ACDelco) and it’s running like a beauty
My 2004 suburban doesn’t have any check engine lights but I would like to do a full tuneup spark plugs and wires what about if I change all the ignition coils will that be something good for it or is there no need to change the ignition coils if it’s not asking for it
QUESTION, I have some 8mm universal plug wire with connecting tips. Would there be any issues if I was to cut and make my own plug wires for a 2006 6.0 SS Trailblazer as opposed to buying the 7mm kit?
Please be careful anyone who moves the throttle plate like he did. It is electrictronically operated and can be thrown off of calibration, also spraying directly into the intake/throttle body can seize an engine so be careful and best to just remove throttle body

Nice work, I just tuned up my 2010 Chevy Tahoe PPV. I went with AC Delco Rapid Fire plugs and BlueStreak Premium wires. I also removed the throttle body and MAF Sensor and cleaned those. New WIX air filter and a can of seafoam in the fuel tank. I can definitely feel the improvement of the Vehicles performance and noticed I get way better mileage.
Hey man I have a 2013 tahoe ppv I just bought 2 months ago with 163000 kms on it, ran fine until recently the code for 02 sensor came on, replaced it but now it seems to running rough and the engine light came on for the left fuel bank , and getting different codes , seems to run rough at a low idle ... thinking about tuning it up hopefully it clears the engine light
nice video... I did a double take when you said to take an 'old rag' to clean the throttle body, and you had a quick correction to 'clean rag' which put me at ease :) appreciate all your videos by the way... keep them coming!

Got that right about the #8 plug. Just did mine yesterday, it took me almost as long to get that one out as it did for the other 7. Was hoping to see a better way to do it.
Great video. Nice job. I changed the plugs and wires last night on my 2009 Chevy Tahoe 5.3L. I did as close to a professional job as I could, using dielectric grease and anti seize. I was also sure to reuse old heat insulators as well. I double checked all 8 wires are properly connected. When I went to start it , it is running really rough and shakey. I dont know what I dis wrong. Any ideas?

Great tips! But let this DIY guy add a few more =) Label parts with baggies/tape/containers etc. Stay organized. Take pictures as you go Change spark plug and wires one at a time if they don't go back as easy as in the video. (Ask me how I know) Be prepared to tilt your engine forward on some FWD cars to access the spark plugs closest to the fire wall Check your owners manual to see if you should do an oil change at the same time Top off fluids and clean battery terminals if need be Last but not least HAVE FUN!
What's your opinion on wobble or U-Joint extensions or instead of using the flex head ratchets? Just curious to hear from someone who does this on a regular basis. I've thought about getting a flex head ratchet set for awhile and, after doing the plugs on my 08 5.7L Hemi Ram, using regular ratchets with U-joint extensions, I wondered if I'd been better off with a flex head. I also learned that fat guys do not make good contortionist when trying to get to those back plugs..
Yeah spark plugs can be a beast on newer engines because they make them allot harder to get to then they did in the 90's and older cars and trucks..... I absolutely love flex head ratchets... I almost never use my fixed head ratchets anymore... I personally think having a couple size flex head ratchets, a wobbly and a few different size extensions is a must..

+Aaron Stone Yes it's cold....The 97 chevy will be the same process other than the 5.7L 350 engine will have a distributor on the back of the engine and it is highly recommended to replace the distributor cap and rotor. Along with the fuel filter on the frame rail.

Hi Bri, my daughter has a2006 ford escape, i have done a tune up on it put it still runs very rough and has a bad vibration to it. The check engine light is staying on or flashing on/off 98 % of the time. I checked all codes and did proper repairs, still no luck. Do you have any suggestions ? Thanks , Dwayne

Use the OEM plugs what it calls for only.Bosch and E3s are garbage and do cause misfires.Don't use the reusable air filters,they are known for taking out mass air flow sensors.The oil from them get on the heating element and kills the mass air flow sensor.
I have seen it before with Bosch spark plugs causing misfires.Once with the E3s so far.The AC Delco platinum and iridium plugs are actually rebranded NGKs.NGK makes them basically for AC Delco.There is a display NGK spark plug,one half say AC Delco and the other says NGK.Save a boot or two off of any junk plug wires,make great spark plug starters.Spend no money on them and they cost you nothing
This guy obviously has money look at the tool box but when it comes to buying an $8 throttle body gasket to really clean the throttle body and a $20 air filter well those things can wait but he will spend big bucks on wires and plugs, what's 28 dollars at that point and cleaner air than ever in the engine better fuel to air ratio for that big trip lol
If you clean your TB be prepared for your engine to run very crazy. The comp. Will have to relearn the idle not just in park but in all gears. This can take days/weeks. I'm no certified mech but I'm going through it now and have done alot of research. It's best to have a diagnostic capable of resetting your idle air control. I would also recommend removing your TB completely to clean it thoroughly. Once the idle has relearned, seafoam spray your engine and dump a bottle of seafoam in the gas tank.
I heard that Seafoam is more affective in two stroke engine applications, like that of a boat thus the term Seafoam, and not as effective in 4 stroke engines that are fuel injected. Perhaps something like Gumout's Multi-system Tune-up cleaner would be best for newer engines since they have additives that are compatible with today's gasoline that may have up to 10% ethanol. I personally don't use cheap gas with ethanol in it so the need to put cleaners with anti corrosion inhibitors to prevent my lines from being deteriorated or to clean all that carbon build up in the Throttle body is limited or not needed as often. Good gas ,in my opinion, usually has better additives and detergent, and no ethanol.
