CAD-Designer of twenty years here. I'd like to add a little detail to your workflow. I would always go from the biggest structure of a design to the smallest in the end. This helps you keeping the overview over your construction (less prone to forget a detail you need for the function) and you have possibly less work with the cuts and extrusions.
Great explanation for interpreting a photo or design into 3D, but it also applies nicely to drawing/designing in 2dimensions. Breaking down everything into basic rectangles and circles and then subtracting shapes is how I approach a lot of design or re-creation. Over the years I got better at the pen tool, to the point I’m a surgeon with it, but still absolutely rely on my basic shapes to start with. Great tutorial!
My mind is blown on how easy you make this look! Can’t wait to start making props myself like this. Only recently got into 3d printing and modelling and even still learning even the shortcuts. But damn!

Very interesting I might try that. It’s half way to Halloween 🎃 , maybe you could try teaching us how you make those 2D images if possible, the ones that have a normal and scary photo face in a frame please.
