How to Turn D&D into Fire Emblem

After a (very) long delay, this video presents my ideas on how to convert the mechanics of Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition to emulate the Fire Emblem series of tactical roleplaying games.
I apologize for the low quality video; a series of mishaps resulted in the high definition version being deleted, and instead of starting the project over again I decided to just upload the low resolution proxy version instead. I'll probably redo this video at a later date anyway, possibly including a Pathfinder 2e conversion.

Question: Do I HAVE to have HP 0 = dead or can I use death save/-10 rule?

Well, no. You can do whatever you want in your game, of course. Having 0 HP be death would just produce a grittier game that encourages tactical thinking, which is the whole point of Fire Emblem. That said, the newer games added in a "casual" mode for a reason.

I mean technically in real life people don't reach Critical Existance Failure if they have 1 HP and take 1 HP in damage... people actualy can be hurt enough to be unable to fight, but still not be killed/crippled and recover at some point (it's still a bad idea to let people put metal objects in your body's vital organs either way.

@@shirrenthewanderer414 Yeah, to be fair, in the fiction of Fire Emblem, characters who reach 0 hit points often don't actually die, they just flee the field. The reason you can't use them anymore is not necessarily because they're dead, but presumably because the injuries they sustained in battle make them unable to fight.

@@chameleonx9253 I know it's a core mechanic in the console games, but it's pen and paper and it would be kind of silly for someone take 1 point of damage and suddenly be forever unusable. I think a broad range of options should be presented to flesh it out more.

@@shirrenthewanderer414 I'm not disagreeing. That's why I mentioned "casual mode," where characters are out of commission for one fight, but are available again on the next map. These things don't necessarily have to be replicated in a D&D game, of course. You can just play by the vanilla rules. I'm just pointing out what options would stick closer to the video games.
