Not your fault, so need to apologize. But it sure is shady of Epson to do this in this way. NOT TELLIMNG BUYERS at point of purchase that they can ONLY use Epson cartridges, and then sneaking in the disabling mechanism with a later update. We are a multi Epson family, but won't buy another one because of this BS. Hope they make enough by screwing people to buy their ink to make up for all the printers they won"t sell once the work is out. @@Ldproducts
I removed updater from all my computers, set "never" in the printer "settings" and am still getting a Update Available notice int the printer screen; how do I make sure that I have "killed" any chance of a sneak attack from Epson. I have had Epson alienate non Epson cartridges on numerous occasions and have always been able to find a work-around but want to know how to make sure they have no access to my machine; I have also removed customer participation and anything Epson-looking that I don't think I need. If I thought any other printer Mfgr. was any better I would S*@t Can everything that has the word "EPSON" on it, but they are all the same. They are marketing people not engineers. I am and have been an Electrical Engineer and Logic Designer all my working life (time out for piloting) and I know that Engineers and BB Stackers are incompatible.
Thank you! However it seems like Epson has updated their Software Updater. I just purchased an EC-C7000 and downloaded the Software Updater only to find that opening it leads me through a different process than you show in your video. Instead of prompting me to select my printer from the dropdown, and showing a box to turn off the auto updates, as you show, it just automatically checks for an update and then you have two options: Install or Quit, which closes the Software Updater completely. It seems they are gatekeeping that selection, and I wonder if the only way to reach it is AFTER clicking Install, which might then allow access to more controls. Any word on this version of Software Updater and a workaround? Thanks! @ldproducts
The two options you are seeing "Install or Quit" are asking you if you want to install the new version of "Espon Software Updater". That is fine to do. You can click the install button. Once you do that, then you can go in and follow the rest of the video. Makes sense?
Thank you for this video. I installed the Epson Software Updater, but when I click the Select Your Product dropdown, my printer (XP-7100) does not appear and in fact no printers appear. The printer is connected to the computer via USB and the printer is on. Any suggestions? Thank you.
@@Ldproducts I did have a problem to ask you about, though. Tried but it did now work for me. The video does NOT show the address of this site. I suspect it is bogus. Can't reach LD products. They talk a sincere line, but Sat. 2PM but answering machining says no one is in. Laugh is on us!

We apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced and if it did not work for your printer model. The printer we featured in this video is the Epson Workforce Pro WF-3730 but our instructions will work for most Epson printers and not for HP Printers.
to turn off auto uodate you hae to download the auto updater? sounds really bad and as I read people are not getting from here to there with this advice and not getting the option to turn off... I would go to epson and download everything in the recommended package except for the auto updater and then check if all my old computers still print wirelessly after getting it to work... or something like that... cause it looks like they made a back door to keeping you exclusive to their high priced cartridges....
Too late, I already accepted the update and I am locked out for printing using compatible cartridges. So I had to buy the expensive Epson brand. They feel so light like there is hardly anything in them. 😡
@@Ldproducts Hey LD thank you. But you still haven't remarked about "k tube"'s comment above describing that EPSON has now changed that software interface and it does not behave in any way life your video. People are scared how to proceed and I fear Epson doing something sneaky. Can you please download the new version, then instruct us how to accomplish turning off all firmware updates? Thank you
