Hi, I tried you trick. I have a model HANA [4A-D7S-A6H-AGH-G6U-E42 or at least that's what it's telling me. I am getting a white screen and the screen has a yellow caution sign on it. Can you please help me?
@@KP-jd1th That screen is there to tell you that the Chrome OS is missing or damaged. Normally it will also contain a web address so that you can download the OS onto a usb jump drive and reinstall the OS. Does your screen display the address? If it does , you will need to go to that site on a different computer and follow the steps shown there to re-install the Chrome OS on your HANA Chromebook
Absolutely fantastic. Tried everything to get my lap top to switch on, all with no success. Found this video by accident and had it working in about 2 minutes
My school cromebook stopped working yesterday unexpectedly. I've been searching for hours trying to find a way to fix it. Thank you so much! This helped instantly.
@@dr.bitches3986 Two things that cause that are 1 the darken button was press so press the lighten key, above #9. 2. a loose display cable as seen here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jm4Lr8uNT0g.html
You're the first video I watched to see if my Chromebook can be fixed easily or replaced entirely. You saved me money and earned a subscriber. I sincerely thank you and know that I will be sharing my find with colleagues, friends and spoiled daughters when they ask me for a new one.
I am glad you have it working again. But, just to let you know. I am a teacher, and our school Chromebooks do fail to work at times. The students simply bring them back and we give then a replacement. As long as there is no physical damage, there is no worries, as we replace them without cost.
Thank you for this video so much! My daughters computer did not start tonight but we watched your video &now her computer is working again.....Thank you so much.
I cant believe this! I have a Samsung Chromebook that went totally blue this A.M. I was fixing to call a computer repair guy to get it fixed. You saved my tater. I'm glad I finally found a video that actually works!
Thank you so much! It was the brightness issue, so you just saved my mom the BIG headache of returning her laptop. It’s kind of silly that the brightness goes all the way down to the point there is no light at all, but I’m so glad you could help!
This video is made to fix a minor software bug, where your Chromebook is not turning on. There are other problems that may also cause your Chromebook to not turn on, If a display cable is loose, then that is a hardware issue and this trick will not fix that. So before you click thumbs down, please leave a comment and I will try to help you with what ever kind of problem your Chromebook is having. Thanks.
@CONNOR STRAUSS A loose Display needs to be reattached by pulling up the plastic frame that is around the screen. That grey plastic frame is normally attached with a glue like adhesive. After careful removing the frame, you will see a number of screws that attache a metal frame around the screen. Remove those screws. Then pull that frame forward. This will reveal the screen, you may now pull the screen forward or remove any screws that still fasten the screen to the back of the lid. After that pull forward on the screen, revealing it's white back. You will see a flat cable attached to the back of the screen. Reattach that flat cable. It may have been only loose, so you may need to work it back into the display port, found on the back of the screen. You may test to see if it is all the way attached by carefully turning on the unit. If the screen works, turn unit off. reattach screws onto frames and gently build everything back as it was.
@CONNOR STRAUSS I worked with many Acer CB3s . That is a plastic frame (in front of the screen. The aluminum back is not 'bent' back, only the plastic front.. It is a light silver color.
@@daaveonmayo1317 It is real tight back there, barely enough space for my fingers to reach back there and feel for the flat cable and reattach it. I have done it a few times for my wife as she dropped her Chromebook. Nice idea, but... not at this time.
Dude, thank you so much, i finally was able to fix my chromebook just lying around. Also can you make a video where the power light ISN'T on? I'm also having trouble with that. (also i subscribed)
God bless you! I thought I was gonna have to pay to get this thing fixed and I had it for a few months. Many thanks, and much appreciation to you...........this video came through in the clutch!
well looks like it's time for a screw driver lol that trick dIdnt work on mine gonna check ribbon cables, repeat ram, blow it out with a can if dust and one of thone shoulddo the trick
When you open the clan shell, what if the light isn’t turned on in general? Which means that without performing anything, light is still not turned on what would happen?
Thanks a lot for fix the problem , I thought my Chromebook was finished , and will never work again , but your video helped me out from this big problem ,
Wow! I’m surprised that it was so easy to fix! I was on my computer for only about a few minutes and it turned to the black screen and I tried fixing it but nothing worked. When I watched this video it immediately worked and turned on! Thanks for posting this video!
@@rioguttaful I held the power button down till the light went off, then closed the lid, waited 20 to 30 seconds, then opened the lid. If the power button is on the side (spin models) then use that one.
So I accidentally dropped my school Chromebook when I was on my bunk bed and now the light only turns on when it's charging but when I take off the charger the light turns off. Also my screen is just blank. I tried this but doesn't work. Plz help I don't want to get in trouble 😥
Often times if a Chromebook is dropped, the display cable becomes loose. That is a hardware problem and can only be fixed by reconnecting the display cable found behind the screen in the Chromebook. Since this is a school Chromebook, just return it and then sign into your School Account on the new Chromebook that they give you. I work at a school and I see this often.
@@aryanna2791 Our schools here, where I work, have a few staff members in the office. Please try to call and ask on Monday. I am sorry that happened to you. I have seen many Chromebooks that have been accidentally dropped and the same thing happens, where the Display cable becomes detached from the back of the screen.
@@LifeWithLycia My friend just dropped her and it would not turn on. I was able to get it back on again, but I had to press the power button for a longer time. It fell so hard that it had broken part of the case.
The problem I have is that when I turn on the chromebook, the logo screen would show up for 3 seconds and then turn off again it keeps doing this even when I charge it. Can anyone help me??
@@aliyahhawkins6704 Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Shift + r. and see it a menu appears. If it does, then it is a software problem and can be fixed with a powerwash. If not, then it is probably a hardware issue.
@James Cook Thank you for the info. Is this an Acer Chromebook? If the blue light turns off when unplugged, that is normal. If the system does not power on , then there may be an issue with the hardware. Try this: Plug the unit into power, close the lid, if it is open. Wait about 30 seconds with it plugged in to power and lid closed. Then open the lid. Wait to see if it turns on. Does it sound like it is turning on, but no screen? If it is still off, press and hold the power button 30 seconds, then close lid, wait about 30 seconds , open lid. Does the unit turn on, now? Is this a spin model? Spin Models need to have the refresh key pressed as well. Let me know, so I can help. I am a teacher and we fix all kinds of Chromebook problems in my class.
@James Cook Okay.. That you for that. Every bit of information can help me diagnose what is wrong. I have been a teacher and a computer technician since the 1990s, I remember working on 286 DOS PCs.. LOL.. No sound... So the system is not powering up .PERIOD. You say that you "took out the battery." The Chromebook CB515 as well as many others have built in batteries. Which model do you have?
Thanks for this, I knew about the 'hard reset method' with Power Button and reload Button that had worked for me before but sadly didn't this time, but your method with closing the Chromebook did luckily :)
So, I watched a bunch of these videos. This is my school computer. And I can't afford to buy a new one. I got really scared because none of them were working. as I was losing hope, I tried charging it and I had the idea to try on the other side because I completely forgot about it. (My chrome OS HP laptop has charging ports on both sides.) So I tried it on the other side and then it worked! So if you have two charging ports, try both of them.
@@astolfosimp8386 This solution fixes the software bug that causes some Chromebooks to not wake up. I have had to repeat these steps up to 3 times on some units to wake them up.. if your unit is suffering from hardware problems, this will not work.
LOL. No , no calls on the CB515 model. The calls are on the Acer CB3 CBs, as well as a few other Acer CBs, Dell, and a few Asus models. However, the steps are the same if this ever happens to your Spin 13 or my CB515.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! i watched like 4 videos and none of them helped until this one!!! you said to turn the brightness up just in case which i never thought of and when i did ,,, IT TURNED ON!! THANK YOU!!
Thank you so much. I have school tomorrow and I thought I won’t be able to attend my classes bcz my Chromebook died but here we are. It’s working now.😁✊🏾✌🏾
Here's a good story for you Mr. Berry: Yesterday my Chromebook, 8 months old, wouldn't respond at all. After trying almost everything (EXCEPT holding the Power button down for 10 seconds. Tried for less time tho.), I contacted amazon & although I was 4 months past my return window they gave me a full refund. I spent from 10:30am to 5pm on amazon looking at Chromebooks/Laptops. So I finally settled on one & placed my order. I was totally spent after shopping all day online, & crashed at 7pm. This morning I decided to check here for a possible fix, & clicked on your video. I unpacked my Chromebook, held the Power button down & in like 3 second, VIOLA, it came back to life! I know I held the button down longer the day before-maybe it just needed a day off ; ) So, THANK YOU SIR! You saved me almost 100.00 as the new one was that much more than this one. I cancelled it successfully. Again, Thank You for your help & Happy Holidays, & a Happy 2022 to you & yours.
@@selmateacher7 It happened again when I got on my 14" HP Chromebook today Mr. Berry. So I held the power button down, the display flashed on, then off, twice before it came on (I released button each time it flashed). All diagnostics passed. Please advise. John
@@selmateacher7 It's been fine since my last message to you. Maybe the lid was getting stuck in sleep mode. I Lubed the hinge with an electronic lube spray. Will seek your help if it happens again, or anything in the future. Thank You in advance, as well as for your overall help sir.
Thank God for you! You actually just saved my sons ass!! He clicked on a game called Glitch on by New grounds and it disabled everything. My son said to tell you that YOU ARE A LIFESAVER!!! As his mom, I agree 👍
Thank you so much for your help..my 8yr old son came home from school, & He couldn't do his homework cause his screen was black. So I followed your instructions and now my son can start on his homework for tonight. Thank you..Thank you..Thank you Sir!! Stay Safe & Blessed!!🤴🏾🧠🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
What a legend! I actually had no idea that my chromebook even had a power button as it isn't on the keyboard, but it's hidden on the side. Once I found that, I got it working by using your method :) Thank you!
Amazing video thank you so much I have a question when it turned into a black screen I had just started clearing my history and in that moment it turned off and there was just a black screen any idea as to why that happened in the first place?
YOU ARE A LIFE SAVER! I AM ABOUT TO HAVE A MENTAL BREAKDOWN BECAUSE I HAVE HOMEWORKS TO DO AND MY CHROMEBOOK IS NOT SHOWING DISPLAY. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Amazing. Thanks so much. It happened many times before & I just thought my computer was damaged & put it to the side. Then I allowed the kids to play with it & it would coincidently work again. Never thought of going to youtube until my son told me to. Thanks so much.
