Black Soldier Fly Larvae can quickly turn quail and chicken manure protein for your birds and fish. Protapod www.protapodusa... Biopod Plus www.protapodusa...
Hi 👋 I have a diy biopod (20 gal plastic tub and pvc pipe). It’s been working great! I’ve been harvesting up a storm and is full of bsfl. Problem is it’s also full of castings/waste and I’m afraid it will become anaerobic. What do I do? Ideally I would like to separate the castings from the bsfl and have the castings be finished off into compost by my worms (separate bin) but I don’t know how to go about separating bsfl from castings!
Quail mom: This is the first time I heard about turning quails waste into food for fish, that's why I don't understand much of what you said. May I have questions please. But first of all thank you very much for all of your videos. Sorry I have many questions below: 1) You said it can process 5 lb a day, but I saw you put in only a little bit of waste (half a lb I guess) and you said you have to wait for 4-5 weeks to have lava. How would it process 5lb waste a day? 2) When will we collect the lava? How many days or weeks 3) How do we feed the lava to the fishes? Just throw the lava into the pond? 4) If we have a lot of lava, can we store it? and how? 5) I don't see any opening in your container, how do flies get in there to lay egg?
File Temporary Great questions! Hope I can answer them. 1. Just a little to start attracting flies, can add more later 2.collect when you need 3. Just throw them in the pond 4. Freeze them. 5. Flies come in through a gap in the lid
Quail Mom: Thank you for your respond. When we will add more manure? At first you put about half lb, and then when will we add more and how much more please.
Brady Piso Yes chicken manure can be used as well. I can’t speak to the safety of feeding them back to the laying hens, but free ranging chickens eat bugs that they may have pooped on. By that logic it’s ok? What do you think?
Thanks so much for your video good information . But i wanted to know if there's any known or possible diseases or sicknesses that the warms can carry and give it to your fish or chickens. And also I've seen some people sanitize the warms with hot water before feeding them i wanna know what you think about that thanks and good luck
shams mujaddidi You are right there are people sanitize them before feeding as a precaution. I’m currently not aware of any diseases related to the bsfl.
