Failed my test at a slip lane last week. I didn't know that I'd have to be checking for oncoming traffic at 2 different points: people going straight and people turning left from the opposite side. When I checked for oncoming traffic going straight to clear I thought I was good to go until people who were turning left into the lane came around and my instructor went "WHAT ARE YOU DOING? AT THIS SPEED TOO???" and you could probably guess that that's where I failed. Gotta check for traffic at TWO ANGLES.
Odd that my province's official driving manual doesn't have any mention of slip lanes. Great video. I have been working towards my license for the past 2 months. I am taking my knowledge test in a few days. I ended up taking up on one of the special offers on your website, and I do consider it one of the best uses of my money in a long time.

Hi rick, good day! question here. The traffic signal lights are down for reconstruction so they put a 4 way stop with a slip lane. Im turning right in a slip lane, should I make a full stop because of the 4 way stop? Or continue rolling if its clear in the slip lane with a yield sign? Thank you

Sorry I'm a little confused about stopping at the pedestrian crosswalk. If I am a small car do I stop before or after the crosswalk? Do I always stop at the crosswalk or is it only for a red light?
Hi Rick! Thanks for the info. However, if a driver were to miss a right slip lane (say when driving in the night or poor weather) can the driver still make a right turn at a complex intersection?

Right blinker when entering any slip lane, and left blinker when exiting slip lanes with shallow angle of approach like the one shown, as you're merging. For slip lanes with a steep angle of approach, right blinker on the whole time.

If the there is a right turning slip lane at a 4 way intersection without a yield sign and there is a left turn lane on the opposite side of the intersection who has the ROW assuming it is a green light on both sides (not a green arrow for left turn)?
what do i do if there’s a slip lane but there’s no yield sign? there’s a few of these types of lanes in the city i’m taking my test and i’m not sure what to do if i approach these on the test

If you are turning right on a red traffic light with no slip lane, then you have to stop. What if there is a slip lane, with no yield sign and a traffic light on the right side of the curb. Do you need to stop at a red light before turning? Thanks
On my test , if the slip lane has it’s own light and it is red, do I have to stop completely before proceeding? If so do I have to stop before the crosswalk?

Thanks, I was looking for some info on slip lanes. I have a cycling channel and I am currently doing a video on a high speed slip lane I have to negotiate on my commute. I just found this right turn slip lane with no stop, yield or dedicated light for the lane. www.google.com/maps/place/Spokane+Valley,+WA/@47.6759252,-117.2244177,75m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m5!3m4!1s0x549e235fb0cf06af:0xdae7a00670e4f06!8m2!3d47.6732281!4d-117.2393748?hl=en This is a T light intersection, and the right turn slip lane has the pedestrian markings plus a solid white line with it. I assume you have to stop at the white line before the pedestrian markings if the intersection is red, correct?

Straight through traffic has the right-of-way over turning traffic and if there are pedestrians in the crosswalk, you must give way to those pedestrians. @@smartdrivetest Thank you for your reply! I'm curious about this scenario though. If there are no cars coming from the straight-away (from the other side turning left into the straightaway) do I still have to stop due to the solid white line behind the crosswalk? Assuming there are also no pedestrians as well. Basically, if it's all clear, do I need to stop? Or is it treated like a yield? Keep in mind the right turn and the straight away into that over the train tracks are 2 separate lanes (they just aren't painted well and it's hard to see in the map)
