For example I tested Fifa 19 PS3 on both HDD and MicroSD and the game was laggy on both. Neither played the game better. So no difference when running games.

@@ChigzTech Thanks for the reply! If I bought the 2gb version, could I theoretically buy a 512gb MicroSD and copy the files to it using windows? (Selecting which games based on size) - my idea is that I would have a small list of games to play portably then use the 2gb HDD at home while docked.

@@ChigzTech Did you have any audio related issues with the retrostation deck? I'm getting some on the 2TB HDD version. It sounds like my right speaker is about to blow out every time I boot it up.

No. I've got the 512gb SD card. Steam input is not available. My solution is to copy the few games that I need SI for to Emudeck and play them there instead.

He means he's installed "Emudeck" through the Deck's native SteamOS. So he plays his emulation games through normal gaming mode on the Deck, rather than booting into another operating system, and so still has access to Steam Inputs.

Power consumption will depend on the system your playing Switch games can last upto 2 hours. PS2 games upto 3 hours. The older systems will give a much better battery life. So it depends on what your playing. Hope that helps.

I have bowel cancer and would love to be able to play those games on my steam deck, I wish now I would have waited for the 4TB harddrive. I haven't played with the 2TB I got because I have been on chemotherapy treatment , could you have a word for me please . I would send the other back to pay the extra for the 4TB version.

Not everyone can do it. Depends on your level.

I don't think 2TB micro sd cards exist, there are prototypes for 2TB sd card though and I believe we would see them on the market soon but they would cost more than that seeing how expensive 1 TB sized cards are, not to mention if you look up 2TB micro sd cards now all you get is a bunch of listings which are scam. I'm not interested in emulation and mainly play MMOs on my Steam Deck but as an IT guy setting this up as you said "nothing complicated" but only because I'm an IT tech and I know how to get things like this done if I wanted to, hell I mainly play MMOs and the things I needed to do to make some of the MMOs work on the Steam Deck was much more complicated than this, but for the normal user, or for people who are getting into PC gaming now, setting up a system like this can be VERY OVERWHELMING, and there is still the time issue once you know what you are doing, it take MONTHS and MONTHS to set up something like this and not everyone have the free time to sit down for hours every day working on this let alone making it look nice and clean, as Chicz Tech said "not everyone can do it"

Yes. I've done it. I was missing Steam input so I copied the ROMs onto Emudeck to play there instead. Best of both worlds.
