Ahmad Halis Or why not live life life to ur best potential and become the best version of yourself to enjoy everything life has to offer. Idk but that to me sounds better than just accepting what ails you or prevent your happiness. You know since we all gonna die anyways why not live your best life.

@Ahmad Halis There's Truth in what is temporary. There is an intelligence/essence of consciousness in the world around us. These Truths precede and succeed us; While we are alive, we get the opportunity to interact with the Truth/Natural Laws/etc thus creating a subjective 'interpretation' of the Truth which colors meaning for the individual. What is the Truth and according to who/Who?

@@glynemartin you have a point. Kierkegaard's advice helps with subtle (emotional/mental) forms of suffering but can do little to alleviate gross (physical) forms of suffering. And even when you consider only subtle forms of suffering, there is a distinction, as you point out, between "real" suffering and "imagined" suffering. I would define "imagined" subtle suffering as that emotional/mental suffering which has its roots in faulty perception or thinking, and this can be alleviated by changing your perception or thinking. "Real" subtle suffering is the emotional/mental suffering that results from actual physical suffering, and this is not alleviated by a change in perspective. This type of suffering requires physical intervention to alleviate. And, it's a grim reality, but in many cases "real" suffering (gross or subtle) cannot be alleviated at all.

A technique that I recently discovered that works for me is one I like to call "non-reaction". There might be another name for it but basically what you do is simply dont react to whatever is plaguing you and remain calm and have no judgement towards the feeling, thought or circumstance that you label as "bad" or that bother you. Dont label them as good either just remain neutral and calm. its important to implement this before you are consumed by whatever it is thats bothering you. Its easier said than done but its helped me tons and brings me peace. Hope this helps.

This reminds me of the basic course of meditation that's free on headspace. "let thoughts come and go, sit back as if you see thoughts going past as cars on an highway. It's like observing, noticing and stepping out of the self harming process of indulging in bad thoughts. I use meditation and mindfulness to train me to notice my thoughts and notice what my mind indulges in. It helps a lot.
@hoodhippie3404
@hoodhippie3404 4 года назад
@@robertsamuel1994 Yeah they're pretty similar. From my experience the benefits are the same its kinda like meditation but without actually meditating if that makes any sense. Lol its pretty hard to explain. I guess its like meditating with your eyes open and without being still. But other than that the process is the exact same as you stated above. I mainly use it when anxiety, depression and negative thoughts start creeping up on me and the benefits are somewhat instant and very noticeable. I notice that I react to things that used to make me sad, angry, anxious very differently and instead those feelings are replaced by peace and I no longer think of those things as "bad" and therefore dont bother me anymore. Overall im just a happier person and find myself loving and saying nice things about myself almost automatically. Which is new for me. It literally works wonders.

This particular discussion came to me at a time when I was thinking about my sanity and then I realized after listening that I should be thinking about my sanity because it means I am not insane. The intellectual individual tends to suffer because we do take the human experience so seriously, and constantly wonder what is the purpose; but I suspect that this is what makes life grand in that we have the distinct ability to ponder the very subject. I always get a deeper understanding of life in general which is always the point. You seem to have developed a skill that must be based on a very diverse and thorough knowledge and practical thinking viewpoint as I almost always see ways to apply the data you provide. Yeah , I realized that self-help books, motivational quotes and inspiring stories won't work out until you work hard for yourself to get out of anxiety and depression. They're helpful but you're the only one who can save yourself.
@alfredkaizirege

I agree 100% I dont understand people who say self-help books, motivational quotes etc are useless and don't work. They do help help but ultimately you have to decide what to do with the information you have acquired. All this motivational and inspiration stuff will get you to the door, but it's really up to you to walk in.

No reason for 'self-pity,' for we have created each and every one of our life's circumstances, i.e., through our thoughts, actions, and inactions. "Luck" (good or bad) does not exist. "A world of our own creation."
