Very helpful about KTP. I bought an inexpensive ($10-ish) silicone keyboard cover for my MacBook with Hangul and English printed on it from amazon. It's helped a lot and you don't ruin your actual keyboard. There are tons of color options too.
Taehyun TV I use the Koren keyboard on RU-vid, were I think the English would be I search it then it shows me what it should have been typed in English. It's usually right! To do this you have to know a good amount of the English keyboard
I, personally, hate autocorrect. It has messed up more communications of mine than I care to remember, often because I don't see the alleged correction until after I have post my remarks. And RU-vid does not allow editing. I wish I had seen this video earlier. I figured out most of the logic of the order over time. What is wish I could find was a keyboard that has three alphabets. In my case, I use English, Russian, and (increasingly) Korean. If anybody knows of such a thing, I would appreciate a reference.
Autocorrect certainly makes embarrassing mistakes. Not sure when the updates were made, but it looks like RU-vid comments are now editable. Click on the three dots at the right of your comment. It'll give you the option to edit or delete. Just letting you know :) About the three alphabets, perhaps you might invest in a bigger keyboard and stick on those stickers. And tadah! You have your own unicorn-tastic keyboard! :D
+sweetandtastyTV Thank you for your reply. I tend to use an iPad most of the time. From that fact, it follows that there are no three dots to the right of my comment, and so, no editing capability - alas. I use a Logitech iPad cover that has a keyboard built in. Fortunately the keys are fairly large. If I can find Russian letters and Hangeul on clear stickers and in the corners of those stickers, then I think your suggestion would work. I live in Russia, so I can check on those stickers right away. I hope to be in Korea in September and October, so I will need to find the Hangeul stickers there. I thought "tada" was 짜잔.
This is the most popular Hangul layout which is called Dubeolsik There is also Sebeolsik which if you are serious about learning and typing Korean might be a better choice. While not as widely used it is more ergonomic. It is harder to learn though for like with English the characters are not placed between vowel and consonant, they are placed for ease of use.
rany jaber I was wondering is they make those keyboard covers but with korean on them instead of english that way if you put them on your keyboard it’s easier to remember
my phone and tablets have built in Korean in them already, and since the keyboards on the phone and tablet are like the ones on a computer, I memorised where the characters are and now able to type on my laptop keyboard easily and somewhat quickly :)
I learned to type on a 1924 model Royal typewriter (which I still have, by the way). You actually put a piece of paper into the machine, position the paper, and strike the keys, which moves a set of levers for each letter/numeral/character, causing the type to strike an inked ribbon and push the ink into the paper. When computer keyboards came out many decades later, I destroyed a few of them learning to use a lighter touch. I wonder, if any manual Korean-character typewriters are still extant.
Happy to hear you have such an awesome vintage pet! I also have a pet like yours, except it is called Remington. Not sure of the date it was born, but think it's from the 1920s? Just a lucky guess. Funny how you destroyed the keyboards lol.
Well, you can type the word 'banana' like this. 바나나, or qksksk. If you're having trouble working out what a word is, a really good thing to do is to go onto google images and type some random characters, and see what comes up. Right your result and what you typed on some paper, or even on a document. I found that it helps a lot. Another thing to look out for is that to actually form a word, you need to type a consonant, then a vowel, then a consonant. 방탄소년단. ㅂ+ㅏ+ㅇ=방. ㅌ+ㅏ+ㄴ=탄, etc. If you want to, you can look up 방탄소년단! I promise you wont be let down! (ARMY knows what 방탄소년단 is) I hope this helps you!
I know you said you already know the characters, but these videos also helped me how to place them. I really think you should ive it a try if you haven't learned how to place them yet (since I'm 11 months late to answer) Vowels: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ehoksf6f_oA.html&index=2&list=PLeNqZRbXxjSB5TGo4RJ24D0vTk414DeYK Consonents: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ixKnd6-B84k.html
Great explanation, it helps a lot. Thank you :DBut i didn't really understand the "ae" "ae" "ye" and "ye", when it's the same word, why are they written differently? Does it matter which one you use?
No no, she said "they sound similar but are written differently." Just think of English homophones (sound-alike twins). "Too/two/to" and "Eight/ate" sound the same, but does it matter which one you use? Of course! Just because they sound the same doesn't mean we can interchange them.
Oh thank you.o: Well...i'm aware of that, but i meant when the one "ae" is pronounced the same as the second one, how do you know when to use which one? I know that theㅐis usually used with names like Jae Rin etc. But yea..that's what i meant
yay for this vid because i was always wondering about whether or not keyboards in other countries had the letters for that language or not. so interesting thank you mina!
9 times out of 10 you can generally change your phone keyboard to korean in the "Keyboard Language" section of your phone settings. I just long press my space bar and scroll left to change my keyboard language. It's currently set for English, Spanish and Korean.
I have some links for you, that will easily help you to read in hangul! Vowels and consonents. I suggest you start with the vowels, since they are the easiest. Make sure to take notes! i dont want to rely on apps but i really wanted to memorize the korean keyboard, at first it was just for fun, but now that im enrolled in korean language i really must learn, and this really helps A LOT, thanks teacher!! and you're really pretty :))
how does babies in korean learn how to use banmal or jundaemal? i saw the kids in return of superman and they already know which to say to whom. so curious!!
I turned on three additional language keyboards on my computer (available in Windows XP and above) that allows me to switch between English, Spanish, Italian, and Korean. Since I haven't memorized the Korean keyboard layout, I plan to get the stickers (or use post-its) and put them on my extra wireless keyboard so I can practice.
I got the stickers and they are helpful so far. The placement of the korean keys aren't that difficult to learn if you already can type without looking. You just have to equate them a bit. Korean H is not at h but rather g... for example.
오 you to shape your mouth like ㅇ it's a deep O sound, and 어 is closer to U sound, it's like a mix between ㅜ and ㅗ sounds like EOH, when 우 is a clear OO / U (french U) sound, like in moon.
감산이다 선생님 오. I've been struggling with my iPhone Hangul keyboard for a couple months. I didn't know that a consonant will move over if followed by a vowel. I kept thinking "I've got to watch Professor Oh's episode on typing." Sure enough, you had the answer to my question.
Hah, wowee. ARMY forever!!! I can already understand them, but my Korean's getting worse xD And, anyways. Gotta keep up my language for the concerts and fan meetings! Been to every single one so far!
One thing I can suggest is what she said at the end about adding the keyboard on your phone. I don't know if it works for Androids but it works for iphones. I only suggest it if you don't mind changing the language setting on your phone (everything you read, say apps, will be written in Hangul). I really wanted to learn Korean quickly so I changed my language setting from English to Hangul. It was just a faster and easier way for me to be able to use write and read Hangul constantly without having to download a keyboard. You can also switch between both English and Hangul keyboards so it's pretty convenient. However if you aren't interested in changing your language setting that way then just download a keyboard :3 I hope this helps anyone ^_^ I'm sure it would work with other languages too :)
OR the most convenient way : - you download Unified Remote on your phone, then on your computer. - you switch your phone keyboard as Korean (with space key you have a quick switch). - congrats you now have a remote virtual keyboard to write on your pc. Works flawlessly on Android :) it takes 30secs to install and set up.
I bought some 한글 stickers to put on my laptop keys and they are very useful!! They are cheap on eBay, highly recommend if you can't put an overlay on your keyboard.
You're so helpful Mina unnie!!! I'm kind of proud of myself, though, since I've already taken the steps to add a Korean keyboard and memorize the positions of the Korean alphabet! 😁 Thank you anyway for the review! 감사합니다!!!
i just started to learn korean and my teacher was talking about asperated consonant today, I didn't get what he said. Then I went on to watch this video to learn how to type in korean. Guess what, I just learnt what I am suppose to learn today
i literally just installed korean keyboard and started using it,i would use the on screen keyboard to memorize the characters, but i would remember them using english words , like s is ㄴ , p is ㅔ , c is ㅊ , maybe this is a harder way idk , but sometimes u just need to remove your thinking that what you are gonna memorize is hard
Hi Mina! About the double consonants you talked about. When are they needed/ when they are supposed to be typed or wrote. Is there a specific rule to them? I'd really like to know, thank you Mina!
Please do an episode of writing hangul by hand or/and reading handwritten hangul. I've learned to read the "keyboard hangul" but i'm in trouble with the handwritten one.
You can go into the settings on your computer, click language, and add Korean into your languages. When you want to use it, just click onto your taskbar and select the language you want to type with.
