Short, sweet, and to the point. Thanks for the advice on the bleach; I'll try hot water and vinegar and pray that I don't have to do any actual work

Every six months I hook the shop vac to the outside line, then remove the float & pour hot water into the line. It pulls out the slime that builds up in all SW FL AC lines. When done I unhook the vac, then pour more water into the line, then check the outside line to see it flowing freely.

Nice. In Louisiana our lines go to the sewer first. The emergency lines goes outside

It ended up not being a clog after all, just the slope of the pipe run. But still, your video helped me get familiar with the layout so I could fix the problem myself. Thank you!!

Great video! Previous owner didn't maintain this ac system well so it seems like the green sludge is causing the water to spill out of the drip pan onto the floor 🤦🏾‍♂️. I got all the sludge out of the front of the pan but can't reach the sludge in back of the pan where the leak is. Any tips to get the sludge out without removing the system?

I've already been using vinegar for this purpose, since I absolutely can't stand the smell of bleach coming out of my A/C and spreading all over the house. Pouring 18 oz of 5% vinegar down the drain line once a month has done the trick for me thus far. 😀👍
@Real_JKDOS

Vinegar isn't any better of a smell. At least bleach gives a sensation of "clean". Vinegar is probably safer on the pipes and environment though

@@Real_JKDOS As for me, vinegar does smell better, but it's a matter of personal preference, I guess.

I don't see any water leaking in the room with the actualy hvac unit. But when I turn on my ac I notice that water starts leaking out of a specific spot from my ceiling on the floor below where the hvac is. Does this mean that the drain pipe leading to the outside of the house is broken or could there be a different explanation?
@WorldofHVAC
@WorldofHVAC Месяц назад
Definitely go in the attic and look at your drainline, emergency pan, suction line insulation. Something is very wrong above that ceiling

@@WorldofHVAC My hvac unit is on the upper floor of my house in its own little room. I just checked and it looks like the black pipe where the white drain pipe leads to has some dirty water and clumps of stuff sitting in it. I assume that is the problem? Luckily I caught the ceiling leak pretty quick so it only affected a 2 inch portion of the ceiling before I turned off the AC. Would you still suggest that I open up the ceiling where the leak was even if the leak is fixed after I unclog the pipe? I still haven't unclogged the pipe at the moment, I'm waiting on a drain gun to arrive from amazon. Thanks for the response! This is the first major problem I've encountered since we bought our house back in 2020 (it's a new build) so I've been pretty stressed about this.

@@Human53182 I was looking at those drain guns on Amazon (with the CO2 cartridges). Have you tried it? I am concerned I might damage the pipe (or myself - LOL).

I can't find where my drain line exits. Pretty sure it's tied into the plumbing in my master bathroom. It's not under the sink.. i plan to cut the line in the attic and hook a shop vac to it and rebuild with a union. My main drain line exits the coil unit into a "T". The botton goes to my line, the top is just open. While running it blows cooled air out the top. Should there be a pvc cap on it or does it need to breath?
@WorldofHVAC
@WorldofHVAC 2 месяца назад
Sounds like you have a positive pressure system. If that's the case it is fine air is blowing out the T.

I have a ‘T’ , do I just do the air pressure through the T directly?
@WorldofHVAC
@WorldofHVAC 2 месяца назад
Air will take the path of least resistance. If the drain is blocked down line from the evaporator then all the pressure will just go backwards towards the coil and not towards the blockage

How often are y’all cleaning these lines, I’ve been in my house for 7 years and we’ve never done this and I don’t think the owners before us did this either. They didn’t do any kind of upkeep on the house. 🙃

Hey what type of air compressor you use to flush the drain line?
@WorldofHVAC
@WorldofHVAC Месяц назад
Any air compressor. You can use a 1 gallon pancake compressor as long as you have the attachments. Professionally I use nitrogen tanks and tbe Gallo Gun but I have that cheap gray one from harbor freight I use around the house

@eralpatmaca5437 First thing that comes to mind when you say AC flush kit is an R11 refrigerant line flush kit which is no where near the same thing. If you want to get something small for yourself you can get the Gallo Gun or diversitech drain flush system.
