How-to Uncrate and Assemble a Champion Log Splitter Alone!!! 1

In this video, I disassemble a crate holding a 500 lb. Champion 25-Ton log splitter, then move the parts to the ground and assemble the main body of the machine. I did this all by myself, but you may want to have 1 or more helpers - log splitters are heavy, and could easily get away from you if you let it.
I get the machine to a point where I can wheel it around, and move it to a better place. In tomorrow's video, I attach the motor and hoses, fill up the fluids, start the machine, and purge the hydraulic lines.

I used to run an old homade log splitter back in the day. This one looks a lot prettier!

Hi Mojo Looks like a nice working machine I remember my dad using a long belt that ran a blade and we would take trees and lay onto a table and it would cut into to than cut it in half us kids would take and throw wood into the truck we might of complained little but it was fun and taught us a few hours of hard work

I am glad mine was already assembled as I picked it up at HomeDepot and trailered it home. I wonder how much you saved by DYI assembly.

I cant remember what the assembly price was, but it was pretty outrageous!

@@PlanetMojo Mine, from Home Depot earlier this Fall was right at $1,500.00 assembled for the 34T edition. It was a bit short on hydraulic fluid, but otherwise in good shape. I do not believe there was an option to buy in crate. We split 7 face cords which translates into EXPENSIVE fire wood eventhough the trees were our own.

How heavy is the beam alone? Can two people lift it? If you bought it on amazon how the crate got into your truck?

The crate was delivered via truck, and slid onto the bed of my pickup truck at the end of the road. It is very heavy, I doubt two people could lift it unless they were very strong people.

@@PlanetMojo When it's assembled is it possible to move it around in the woods just by hand without any machinery?

@@naturewatcher7596 A bit, but not really. I move it around by the woodpile and in the woods a bit, but it is very heavy and you you wouldn't be able to do too much of that. My daughter's boyfriend can't move it at all. 😐

@@naturewatcher7596 My routine is to cut up logs and bring them back to the woodpile on the JD Gator, then from the Gator, they are at the perfect level to go right on the splitter. I just toss the split wood near where it will be stacked, then when I get a decent pile I stack it. Very efficient!
