Here is a quick and easy way to unkink your herringbone necklace! I have used this method for almost 30 years and it has never failed me. I hope that it helps you if your herringbone necklace ever gets kinked.
DANG, IT WORKS! I’ve had my chain kinked for over 10 years. I have attempted to unlink it off and on for 10+ years and was never able to unkink it. I did put some coconut oil on it to lubricate and wiggled away! Stunning that it worked! Your brilliant!
Dude you just saved me over 8000 dollars. I have a fat 11mm herringbone that got kinked and I took it to the Jeweler and he pretty much told me im SOL. Been in the drawer for over a week and I just came across this video. Worked a f***ing charm. Seriously from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
@@TatsByTaco nice, I was only asking because I was looking at a 14k 12mm 24 inch one at the pawn shop. It's 56 grams and was trying to figure out if it is worth it or not. Keep shinging!
@N.E. MPLS I wouldn't pay more than $2400 for that piece boss! It's a good question though, and I wish I didn't get mine so heavy bc of the comfortness
I have been so frustrated with my moms herringbone I just found recently and wanted to wear but it had a kink. Literally have been playing with it for days. Just had the thought to check RU-vid and BY GOD THE KINK IS GONE. Thank you!!!
THANK YOU!! You saved my 32 year old bracelet. I have been trying to get a kink out for hours! I appreciate you for taking the time to post this helpful advice!!! 🎉
Wow. You're amazing. I've been stressing over this for a very long time. I've looked on RU-vid before and couldn't find anything. I looked one last time before I was going to take it to a jeweler. Amazing!
I can't thank you enough! I had tried everything and nothing would untangle my necklace. After I watched your video I kept shaking it and almost gave up. I decided to reverse the way I was hanging it and after a couple of times of shaking it from each end all of a sudden the links fell into place! It makes so much sense that the links will fall into place like they eventually did! Again THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
@@BParsonsBased only on Gail’s comment, would you consider adding a comment about which end you should hold up and which end should dangle - I was looking for info on un-kinking a simple silver snake chain and happened upon yours. I’m assuming the correct end of a herringbone chain would be the end where the points of the chevron links pointed UP, but I don’t really know. Thanks for doing a good deed for other peeps! ❤
Thank you so much for this video! I thought I’d ruined my grandmother’s gold herringbone chain that she’d given me. I thought I was going to have to get a jeweler to weld it.
Holy crap man! You were the third video that I checked on repairing herringbone kinks and I had advice from Jewelers telling me there's no way to fix one but then when I got to your video I was like okay I'm going to try this I want you know and it took seconds and it was fixed!!! So I just wanted to say thank you so freaking much for making this video this was a great time I'm very happy 😜✌️
Well it took me about 45 minutes of wiggling and smoothing but it worked! I have a small bracelet, I wonder if it would have unkinked faster if it was heavier… regardless, thank you so much for posting and thank you to everybody who posted their success, it definitely motivated me to try it!!
@@BParsons the crazy part was that it was kinked up at both ends. I was shaking and wiggling one end looking at the knot closest to my fingers and thinking “nothing is happening!” Then I looked at the knot at the other end and it was working itself out! I just kept switching ends and it worked. So simple, and it didn’t involve any jewelry tools. I can’t thank you enough, it was my only gold bracelet that I owned and I needed to wear it the next day
Nice of you, but its still a lumpy mess. You can lay it on a gard surface and gently roll a round dowl-like item, cylinder, spice bottle (parallel sides), that should help make it look better at least 👍
Hi B Parsons! After unkinking this way, is there a slight dent (even if barely noticeable) in the 'flow' or shine of the chain where the kink was or is it perfectly smooth all the way? PS. I don't YET own a herringbone, I'm still undecided about whether to risk it, but your method gives me hope!
I have had my herringbone chain for over 30 years. I have kinked it many times, sometimes quite severely. This method has always worked to unkink it. Sometime a link will have a slight dent or bow, but that is easily fixed by laying the chain in a hard, flat surface and lightly tapping on it.
Great video but you shouldn't put pendants on herringbones I'm a jeweler and always tell people to avoid it herringbone chains are very easy to ruin or destroy
@@BParsons then you've been extremely lucky they are notoriously easy to break chains and I've 100% never heard of one surviving for 30 years with a pendant as a daily wear chain so I will admit I'm doubtful of that but I'm sure stranger things have happened
