Depending on the model, BMWs equipped with Comfort Access allow you to lock or unlock the vehicle with the two front or all door handles.
The settings of your key button assignment also have effects on Comfort Access.

I have it set on all doors... however my key is not working when I try to open the door. The key fob is right near the handle.. anyone else having the same issue?

Just upgraded from a jeep compass to a x3. The compass had the open with the door handle unlocking standard. The x3 doesn’t. It’s annoying

Chris R Even Renault now, doesnt have perfect keyless entry like in Megane 3. Yes Bmw also had this technology but you had to touch the door handle to lock the doors, i had not! Key was in my wallet for two years long and i did not touch anything, i just left the car. Demonstration such as technology like new absolutly bullshit anymore! Thats the point!

Hi +NinjaStriker Provided you are carrying the remote control with you, the tailgate can be opened and closed without contact. Electronical devices may cause signal interference. When standing centrally behind your BMW, two sensors detect a kicking foot movement and the tailgate is opened.

My new g20...has the proximity option disabled so that I open it placing my hand on the handle. But when washing it and therefore being around it for a while it still locks and unlocks without me touching the handle. This is slightly worrying. Any insights to this? Thanks

Good luck on that bill when replacing the door lock actuator... they should instead have an option at the door handle like double tap to unlock all doors only when there's other passangers

Except that for the other interpretation of the title I can't. You cheaped out on the sensors on the rear doors so I can't unlock these doors with comfort access. This is NOT premium.

It's a luxury car, it has more security than regular cars. The fob is unique to each car and has to be in close proximity to the car to unlock. Just like if anyone stole your key they'll get into your car. Same thing. Only this is way more convenient.
