Video Description
Recently I came across a weird problem in my Honda Civic LX. I tried to lock the trunk release handle/lever underneath the driver seat with the master key. It did lock, but when I tried to unlock it, it didn't UNLOCK. So for a moment I was unable to open the trunk with the lever. Then I could open it using the key only.
I searched in the internet, some people had the same problem. But there were no solution.
Fortunately the solution is simple. I found the procedure on my own. Watch the video and find it out. Enjoy and save some bucks ;)

So you are a Triple-A driver? My car was hit by someone. Police caught him and gave me the incident card. But I could not get police report for the man turned out to be criminal. Because I didn't have full coverage, Triple A denied to cover my loss. Any help?

Much thanks. I locked my keys in my trunk (2001 Civic LX), and I locked the trunk lever in the cabin too. The only key I had was the grey key that only opens the doors and starts the ignition. I knew there was another way to get the trunk open without breaking locks or calling the expensive lock smith, and you proved me right. Much thanks for saving me some $. Don't understand any of the downvotes.

I have left my honda keys inside the trunk, but fortunately, one door is open, so i can access inside the car, but nothing else. I just saw this video on how to release the lever to get the trunk open and get my car key`s out the trunk, so i am going to try it tomorrow. It`s dark right now. OH FUCK. THANK YOU IT WORKED!!! I TRIED FOREVER to pick it with my basic pick set from the back seat release lock but NO BUDGE. THANK YOU so much, I thought it would be too good to be true but I was able to pop it right off and unlock it then reinstall the components no problem. All less than 2 minutes.....makes me wonder why they even offered the feature if it can just be defeated in a few seconds when you have the proper knowledge, LOL. thanks again. blessings

Wow thanks for the video. I had a backup camera installed and they ran the wire under that trim molding and it moved that lock cylinder in the process and I could not unlock my trunk. Thanks a million.!

Have a similar issue, where it acts as if its locked. But I can see the locking mechanism move when I use my keys in it. Unfortunately the fix in this video did not work, but it is helping me get closer to fixing it. Thanks.
