Thank you for the suggestion, Maria. I did consider adding more gold and I still may. I was going for more of a weathered "old gold" vibe, but who knows...I may change it up at some point! :-)
I just figured out how to fix a painting I got for almost nothing. It is a old one and I love it but like yours the mat is dingy and I am not a fan of the frame. Thanks for the inspiration
As a professional picture framer, if you really want to preserve a piece of art, take it to a professional and have new mats cut that are archival, or acid-free. Make sure it is done right! Leaving old acidic paper mats, non-UV glass, and paper backing in bad enough, but painted mats! 😢
I appreciate your input. Not everyone can afford to have new mats and glass cut, so this is an affordable option that keeps an old print out of the landfill. But I do get your point. Thanks!
