Awesome Gee! This process is still current. I just got a new NB4 today (with 2.0.85) and upgrade it to 2.0.93 using these instructions. I couldn't get it to work but after watching this everything went smooth: I don't have MacCalfie (sp?) but I was able to just turn off my firewall from the windows security icon in the system tray (same location shown here)... both of them and then the update file appeared in the Flysky program. Update took a litte more than 5 min. Appreciate the content!!!
Does the mini z evo support channel 4 via the ics port? I wasn't sure if it would as mine controls throttle gyro and steering gyro via channel 3 and 4. I'll give it a try. Cheers.
So the lights DO have a voltage drop when braking between the 4th pin and the 2nd positive lead, BUT that is the reverse of what you want. You want it to brighten when braking, not darken. Its very odd. I may set up a Mosfet or something to invert the control. Ive bought the official ICS lead lighting harness and am gonna shred it to figure out my lighting for my bodies since I run dark bodies and need lights. (Use magnet wires or copper tape and panel mount .2ma LEDS to save weight for your lights, Mine weigh less than a gram total.)
@@GarageMiniRCUK I mean, yah but id have no idea how to share em on here. :( the trick is that the evo seems to be series wired and it has to share pin 2 (positive) , if you want to split between 2 colors, between the negatives of pin 1 and 4, but unless you're running the 5mm beefy(see also heavy) LEDs you've gotta throw a resistor in there too, even just like 27ohm, just to cut it down a little bit and not burn em out real fast. I'll try to do a tutorial video at some point and post it up so people get an idea of how it works, but its definitely more of a pain than wiring for the sport. I loved the easy lighting setup for those, and the brake lights amused me greatly. ^_^ I'm hoping the official lighting kit ive ordered has an elegant solution i can copy once it arrives, but if it doesn't we may be stuck rigging it.
@@GarageMiniRCUK you got it, ill send a few photos of my rigs i did but boy howdy was i wrong about the ICS wiring I finally got the official lights and broke em down and did a full read on every resistor and wire and figured out how to make it (and how it works) its deceptively simple. You need to share the single negative pin, pin1, which is the most forward pin on the car, second pin is the normal positive, then there's a blank spot and pin 4 is ONLY lit when there is a brake signal on. You've gotta give the brake lights both pin 2 AND 4, for positive, you need enough resistance on that line to have it darker when its lit by 2, and fewer ohms (but still some resistance) when lit by the brake signal. It's a little tricky, but the stock setup uses 210 on each headlight led, 390 ohms on the taillight and 100 on the brake line. As I said, ill shoot you my diagram and it'll seem more coherent. Eventually imma do a full mod video on doing em including how I do underglow with em, but I wanna fix a few things here first to be presentable. .
Received my FS NB4 today and thought about updating it first. Weirdly though, it indicates that my NB4 is currently on Version 2.0.83 even though the latest in the website is the 79. Decided not to "update" it yet instead.
😂 I know. I love the controller but I hate updating it. In the video I thought I was going to be OK, as last time I kept all the settings. I was genuinely caught out. 😂
I normally have about 10 profiles so restoring everything post upgrade has been a pain, every update to the latest has blown away the profiles and some of the secret features have lost their english translations. That said i still love the NB4, tried a spektrum reciver the other say and was scratching my head at the latency
Also for those who are IT experts, having a blank windows VM only for firmware upgrades and USB passthrough makes this process a lot simpler and more secure if you wonder about downloading random bnaries off the internet
