Awesome and great video as always! **Just as a quick note, since we're now in 2020, that the website has updated on Harley, simply go down to the bottom now on the homepage and click on "Software Updates," and the next screen has been updated slightly, but it will take you to where Steve shows which infotainment model you have installed. Thanks Steve for the quick run through and the note that it needs to be 8GB or larger since I'm sure some people are out there with smaller thumb drives attempting to complete this.

Steven, thanks for the video it helped a lot. Harley has listed the "fixes" via the updated software. I copied the first 4 as the list was very extensive. Yeah the hydraulic clutch is way different huh..haha took me some time to get used to as well. Its a great bike...you wont be disappointed in the trade ..I went from a fatboy lo to this SG...love it man!

Well apparently it is good to go through and watch all these videos, I just updated my audio on my 14 glide the version that I had must have been the version that it left the factory with it was version 1.17.5
Ive done several of the updates on bikes here in the shop and most of the time its hard to see what was even updated lol but I try to keep them up to date regardless.
Hey guys, looking for some guidance. I just replaced my 4.3 HD radio with a 6.5 HD that I purchased used from a friend. Install was easy and the radio works fine. Dealer ship is telling me I need to take it in and get it flashed so it will work properly. Is this true?? It seems to be working fine already. Even the Navigation works.
Ok thanks a lot but I have a Mac and Harley web site will not work with Mac . Not sure why when you can get apple car play for you bike . So now I have to take it to Harley or find a friend that has windows
That sucks...I wasnt aware of that...However your HD dealership should do this for free because it is a free download...it literally takes about 2 minutes...our local HD has a key ring with multiple flash drives on it...they walk out, flash it, your on your way
I must be doing something wrong, I downloaded, unzipped, and uploaded unzipped file to my 8GB memory stick. I then went to accessory switch on the harley, waited until i got to the home screen , and plugged the stick into the usb connection. It says "no playable device found". I've tried multiple times, deleted and downloaded to memory again, nothing. Any ideas?
This happened to me as well. You dont have the right download on the memory stick. Be careful not to download the wrong update for your bike. If you do the Boom system might lock up and you will have to take to dealership. I tried a soft and hard reboot but no luck.
hard to tell..generally if you run an aftermarket amp you would reset it to "no amp" which means they turn the internal amp off. The radio itself has an amp built in but its maybe 25 watts rms. So to say its flashed for an amp doesnt tell me which amp...after market (turned off) or its on and the internal amp is on.
This is not a flash. This is only an update. You cannot flash the radio at home. You can pull signal from your front speakers and run it through a line out convertor. This will allow you to run an amp. No need to flash.
I have a 2019 Road Glide.. and want to know if the update updates Everything... Mine went through nav and SXM the whole enchilada. Mine worked seamlessly.... Thanks for a great video

Ok where did you get the thumb drive at an also I have a 2014 street glide myself my question is the 14 didn't come with navigation correct but as soon as I find a thumb drive I will do mine my self thanks awesome video take care an god bless
I get my drives from Amazon man..specially now around black friday..they will sell them dirt cheap. The 14 special came with nav..the standard does not. Make sure you download the proper one. If you have pushable buttons on the side then you have a standard radio. If it's all touch screen and a bigger screen then you have a special and have nav.

Load it up and plug it in the same spot and your radio will detect it and you can toggle through your songs ..way better than radio or having to mess with blueroothing your phone. First, thank you for your time & effort for the video. I've followed all steps but when flashdrive is inserted in bike, all I get is "No Music Found". I brought flash drive back in to check & it shows to have the file. Like the tree that's been cut down, I'm stumped!! Any suggestions; I have reformatted & downloaded twice and still same old same old. I'm always for advice. Do you have any suggestions? Bike is 2016 flhtkl. Thanks a million.
you have to make sure that there are no files on the usb and that it is in there by itself. cant be in a folder or it wont find it. a. Select "Download Software Update" for the appropriate system. b. When prompted, save the compressed file to your computer desktop. c. When the download is complete, copy the file within the zipped folder to the root directory (the first or top most directory in a file system) of a USB flash drive that is 8 GB or larger. d. Turn your vehicle's ignition switch to ACCESSORY. (Keyless ignition vehicles: press and hold the trip switch for more than two seconds). e. Turn on the audio system and connect the USB flash drive to the audio system's USB port. f. The audio system will detect the new software available and ask if you want to update. Select “Yes”. The display will prompt you to remove the USB drive when the update is complete.

Damn this was five years ago I hope this get answered. I have a 2015 street glide and have that radio someone is giving me the radio that’s in the 2015 special I believe they have the four button I also was giving a boom amp. I was told I had to go to the dealer to have it flash will this do it with out going to the dealership?
I recently bought a 17 SGS and am wondering if I have to have a headset for the person I call to be able to hear me. I hear them but they can’t hear me. Is that the way it should be or do I need to turn something on. Thanks
Im not sure there is a fix for that if it just stopped working..these units can go bad...however they are a dime a dozen on ebay , if you have the stock radio without nav like the one in my video you can find people just giving these away...no one wants them after they do a sony swap...on the other hand the "special" radio with nav will cost you a few bucks...but still all over the place sitting around in garages. I would just replace it...check some facebook groups to see if anyone is willing to part with one
I've got a 2018 FLHTK with the radio and nav. I up dated the radio with no problems, but not sure about the GPS. Do they have the update for this in the same place? I don't see anything on the radio saying which version is already loaded.
The specials in 2014 came with a Boom! Box 6.5 GT ...it should have 2 buttons on each side of the screen and have NAV on it. If it has the smaller screen, no nav and has 4 buttons down each side it is the Boom! Box 4.3
There are only 2 versions of harleys radio..this one in the video with the small screen and buttons is on a standard and the special has a bigger screen, a few buttons and navigation built in. Depends on which one you have.
you have to check the website for the update and what it does...there is a "tab" on the info section of the update where you download it now and it says exactly what is in that update ....if the bike hasnt been updates in awhile it will bring you to the most current version and if any previous versions included map updates it will be in there.
Hi, everyone I am from Brazil and I am having problems with my 2019 Road Glide Special Boom Box GTS. The Boom Box display is glitching and having kind of magnetic interference like, and the display also had been dislocated a few millimeters to the right. I really do not know what is going on. A few days ago I updated the software and the problems was temporarily gone for a while but, it comes back again. Any thoughts would be good to help me.
Several forums on this same issue. In all cases that I read the touch screen was going bad and they replaced the radio..so Im guessing there is no fix, just need to replace the radio. Id loo into a Sony 7000...I have it on both my bikes and love it
Thats. Iv started having problems with my radio On my 14 street glide special Takes for ever load some times. If I turn the bike on an start be for the radio comes on. The bar an sheld already showed. It will not do anything it goes black. I was told it had all up dates. An today riding at 60mph. Had the radio on . Out of nowhere it shut off screen went black then the bar an sheld came across the screen. An everything started working. Carzy. Nj Harley davidson dealers for you. Now it's going to a HD dealer. In north Carolina.
Ive seen that happen to a few bikes..even mine when I had the stock radio in would shut off when it got really hot. I changed it out for a sony as I only had the stock radio with no nav or anything.
I took my 19 street glide in for the upgrade at Harley and got a virus, now my Boom GTS is toast. I wish I didn’t get the update. 3 months later and Harley still hasn’t fixed my radio 🤬
yeah id be calling up to hd HQ...dont let your local HD BS you...you can call there as a customer and get way more done then they can at the shop...trust me, ive done it..They have radios...make HQ send you one.
unfortunately no...the gps only comes on the upgraded touch screen version. However there are plenty of aftermarket plug and play stereos that allow you to keep your thumb controls and also run gps through your phone on screen. I put the Sony ax 100 in last year and its amazing.
