This video shows you how to update your Kia's navigation (Maps) and software/firmware. Kia has streamlined the update process so it can be done for free in the comfort of your own home using Hyundai's new navigation updater tool. This update features the latest UI theme for Gen 5W Kia headunits including those found in all 2020-2022 Telluride's with 10.25" navigation screens among other vehicles.

Just the tip that you forgot to mention when the screen reboots you need to remove the USB stick or the update process will initiate again

Now when i choose kia telluride it says which model mine is 2021 so can i install 2022 model system update on mine or is there any difference between update files between models or may give you more option for newer model ???

Hello, I own a sportage 2023 gt line ( 12.3 inch screen) with gen4 software installed. Can you help me update it? I tried all the software of the update system but I can't find the appropriate version. Each software that I install on my usb key is not recognized by the car. question is, when do i unplug the USB from car? if I left it plugged in, I think it just keep updating using the same file, I one time sat in the parking lot for like 3 hours.

When I downloaded the update there are a ton of different files in the update folder. Does the car need all of them? Does it know which ones to use?

Whatever the downloader tool installed on the drive, is what you take with you to the car. It should do everything for you.

"Insert the memory that contains the update file and try again"..2020 Kia Sedona and no one has a clue how to fix this? I've tried everything.. Formated 32gb USB drive FAT32, exFAT, downloaded files to pc first then copy to USB drive, download directly to USB drive. Tried multiple different drives. Nothing works. Shouldn't be this difficult.

Hey mate, can you tell if the car has to have running engine or if you can simply do it while you leave the car outside without key close to wehicle? I mean i live in a flat, so i wonder if i have to park the car somewhere safe...

The system states the update will finish even if the engine is turned off however I like to be sure so I leave it running.

There is always a risk but I have never seen one do that. That is why I opt to leave the vehicle running even though the newer system say that isn't needed.

I tried updating kia stonic but the screen has frozen. It’s been almost 12hrs and the usb is still in and the screen still says “validating update files”

Hi @CarsMadeSimple , I have updated my kia sorento 2022 with Gen5 but at the end says the audio system is corrupted or doesnt exist, everything is working except for the map and navigation, I did it more than 3 times but not luck, Any suggestion?

I would make sure the USB is formatted correctly. You can't have any other files on the drive.

Everytime I enter the USB into the car only sound files are played. It keeps telling me 'Insert Mermory that contains the update file and try again.' What am I doing wrong?

It sounds like your USB drive is not formatted. It should only contain the update files.

@@CarsMadeSimple the USB has folders that need to be individually opened. That's how it was downloaded. So it needs to be formatted then, I'll try that. Thank you

That's a good question. I cannot find on either anywhere that states they will get the OTA map updates. Software updates remain via USB on all vehicles with OTA updates.

If your usb storage has more than 64 memory it won’t download.. you need something less

I don't believe Kia will make this UI available on the Display Audio head units but you can always update your system to see.

Great question. I would not know how to do this exactly. You might be able to reach out to your local dealership as there could be settings inside the dealer access menu's to change the region.

Kia sportage 2020 downloaded the update into the usb but when i apply into the car it says USB is not supported

The format must not be correct on the drive. I would recommend reformatting and downloading the file or using a different drive.

You have to select your country for the appropriate update. There’s a menu bar upper right hand corner on the webpage.

You can always use a larger USB drive than is recommended. I would try a 64gb drive.

I would not recommend using different files for different models.

The updated maps will never be as up to date as Google maps or smartphone apps as those can be updates much more frequently. These updates will keep everything relatively up to date within the past year or so. I have found errors in these maps but very infrequently.

This video was in regards to the 10.25" screen. I have some videos of the new Palisade if you would like to watch the interior section of those to view the screen. When should I remove the usb? Cuz when the update finished and the system restarted it went to the update process again!

That is weird that people are running into this on the Kia systems and not the Hyundai ones. I think you can safely remove it even after it starts to reboot but I wouldn't remove it while the update is actually going.

Mine did the same thing on my 2021 kia Sorento sx. I re inserted the USB again and now it started say preparing system update for the second now third time. It's started the process all over but was successful.

Really informative video - My 2018 picanto I believe has never been updated. However, it appears that there have since been two updates for Picanto models since. The two software versions since the 19 version (which I believe I have) look drastically different and the previews have the wider aspect ratio found in the newer vehicles. Would these still be compatible for my '18 Picanto with the smaller touchscreen display. Thanks!

I would make sure you are doing everything to a T. Sometimes these updates can be picky inside the vehicle.

Hello sir, my car is a Kia Sorento model 2020, it has the original sd card and it was working without any problems. But I tried to update it and when I put it in the car, the screen did not respond to it. I think the navigation program canceled or erased. Do have What's Up No for more info I live in Iraq in.meddelest..
