Honestly, on Gigabyte motherboards I'd advise everyone to boot to Bios and update it via Q-Flash and a USB stick with the new bios files on it, if possible. In my experience Gigabytes "Update Centre" is a very fickle and unstable app, that on occasions crashes and doesn't update the various apps properly. Also, Bios is a far more stable clutter-free environment, where there is almost zero chance of something happening in background to disrupt that update. That's unlike Windows with it's bunch of hidden background updates, auto-reboots and possible crashes. Also, most of Gigabyte AM4 motherboards come with the feature of a "Dual Bios" as standard (a backup Bios), so if a Bios update fails, just turn off your PC for 10 seconds and reboot. It should then jump over to that other reserve Bios, which will still allow you to boot up into Windows and carry on as normal. Because of this feature, it's hard to actually completely "brick" the motherboard via a Bios update failure.
could not for the life of me figure out how to do the Q flash, I kept getting an error message. This actually made it possible, I guess one of the problems of second hand owning a PC
Thank you so much for going through this. I've recently gotten a used computer and the bios was very old (51F or something). I've been apprehensive to update it because it acts a bit wonky sometimes and I didn't want to make it worse. Your walkthrough was spot on. Easy straight forward and now it's done. Thank you again.
Thank you so much for this tutorial it was hard to find a good one online that worked. I have the exact same motherboard and I jumped from f32 to f64 with no issues whatsoever
Thanks for the help. I just updated my bios from f5 to 64e with a brief stop at f32. I have never updated a bios before and this video made it possible to work my way through the process. Thanks to you I am now rocking an AMD 7-up from the AMD 5. Between the AMD 7 and the upgrade to an RTX 3060 the difference is amazing.
Great video I have this exact motherboard but have it in mini itx form and I was looking to upgrade from my Ryzen 7 3700x to an Ryzen 7 5800x. Was worried about updating the bios but this video has made me more confident in doing so 😊
Thanks for this. Upgrading finally from a 2600 to a 5800X3D. I've not touched the bios in the 3+ years I've had it. According to my B450 aorus elite bios - it says its running version F32 hahaha
@@thiccbeetboi I had major problems upgrading from F32. There are some warnings about going to F40 first but that update always fails on my machine. I assume if I go to latest BIOS I will brick it.
@@Janman81 Thanks for your reply. I swapped my CPU this past friday night. I went from F41 directly to the latest and have no issues. Cpu is working great. Best of luck!
actually actually actually actually actually etc etc etc the app center software is actually quite useful. thank you for this- i wouldnt havent paid it any mind had you not actually made this video.
My friend has this motherboard with bios F50. We tried updating via file and via the appcenter but we keep getting 'error updating. We tried F64, F63 and F51. Very weird. Any idea what this could be ?
When i installed windows it had gigabyte control center preinstalled buf whenever i update the bios a red light goes on the motherboard and i have to turn it off and on again
I hear the pc working but I've got black screen and my usb peripherals not responding, followed every step on the websites for upgrading from F1 to F32. I gues it's a goodbye
I have Aorus B550 elite v2 motherboard. When I check bios version it is shown like 'FB'. What might it mean? I do not see such version on the official site
About Gigabyte AppCenter: After PC restart itself and wait for more than 10 mins, if there's only a White line flashing on the top left corner (this means "No working OS found") This is because the Boot Sequence is USB. I thought I failed my BIOS update and found it's not a fail.
Is this the Bios file that was downloaded? Sometimes it can happen and it's the Gigabyte software being dumb. Make sure the @Bios software is fully up to date and if it is and still not working it might have to be done through the bios it self.
@@TechLabUK Solved it. windows 11 was hiding the file for some reason. I had to move the exact file from the folder to my desktop.... ive tried to update 3 times after, now im getting update fail, even downloaded older updates
i had a quick question. If im behind a bunch of bios updates past to where is has a red caption that says "Note: Before updating BIOS to this new version, you MUST follow the steps as detailed under BIOS F40 description." would i have to update to the latest one with red captions before updating to the most current one?
This is an extremely easy board to brick. Mine can't seem to make the jump from F32 to F40 successfully and the instructions for jumping to a BIOS beyond that are completely unclear.
HELP PLEASE I have B360M AORUS GAMING 3 with BIOS F2 tried to update to F15 but after its done and pc rebooted I still had the F2 version. What should I do?
If I had to enable ftpm in my mobo bios to install windows 11, how would I go about updating my bios using this app center @bios feature? If i did it this way doesn’t your bios settings get reset, therefore my computer wouldn’t boot because id have to enable ftpm once again to be able to boot back into windows
If you go to the Gigabyte website, find your board > Support > CPU Support you will find a list of supported CPUs and last column on the chart will give you the number of the bios required.
@@Nks_L-g1on Not sure as I don’t know the model of your board to look it up. On the CPU support page, if the 5600 says it needs F62 then that is what you will need.
I flashed my Z690 to F24 (was listed through the app didnt download that one off the site) and now my boot LED is constantly red, PC starts when opening BIOS tho and chosing windows as boot option. Would flashing to F25 solve this issue or is it safer to q-flash it?
how can i do this on a ultra durable gigabyte board? it has a bug where 3/4 my gpu collection (750ti, 1030, and my daily driver the 1070) dont show the bios boot screen and i cant view anything in the bios when i have those cards cuz they just dont display. it posts but there is no display. it works on my newer but weaker 1660, but id rather not switch my gpu over and over every time i wanna access the bios. i have a B760m ds3h ddr4.
Or watch how to reinstall windows ? All you need is a 2nd computer 💻 🤨 if you dont got one ask a friend and create a boot file if ydk how watch a youtube video its all there.
I had a problem regarding the bios and concern because i have a GA-A320M-DS2 gigabyte and the website says that it supports ryzen 5th gen through bio update f51g i tried but dosent work when j replace my ryzen 3 1200 into a ryzen 5 5500 i can use the bios but after that no signal comes out
@@christiancordova1283 F51G seems to be the latest Bios for that board. If running the 1200 and it's displaying but not with the 5500. Try dropping the 5500 in a resetting the cmos by removing the battery on the motherboard for a few mins (System unplugged). If still no display are you sure the CPU is not defective?
@@TechLabUK @TechLabUK the only way i can confirm that the new ryzen 5500 is not defective is the pins are not bent and i can go through the bios and see the cpu labeled there as for the cmos battery i havent tried removing ill update if it works. Also can i ask how many mins exactly?
I'm on F32 and some versions above that say I should follow F40 instructions before updating, but those disappear after F50, do I still need to do that?
so I have a b550 elite v2 and somehow my ryzen 7 2700x works with but I'm having a issue where I have 16gb of ram installed but 7.95 is only available would that be the issue
It could be a number of things. Faulty ram, motherboard etc but I would first try updating the bios in case there was a known issue and a fix released for it.
No, according to the Gigabyte website you will at least have to move to F31 before you can go to F40 to then move to the latest: www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-AB350N-Gaming-WIFI-rev-10/support#support-dl-bios
After updating bios via the aorus app center that was in the video, my pc won’t startup. Even resetting bios not helping. My mobo is gigabyte b450 aorus pro wifi itx it had 42g version and I installed the latest from the official website using this exact program, to version 63a
@@fancysummerr Not 100% sure tbh. According the Gigabyte website there isn't a BIOS version called 42G (At least one you can download to) and 63a isn't the latest 64a is. Was there any issues during the update when in windows? What CPU do you have? Are there any diagnostic lights on the board saying anything?
i cant enter the bios, since i connected my new screen the thing just boots into windows without showing the gigabyte logo, its driven me nuts for years now, so yeah
@@TechLabUK it used to work on my old screen, I've read that since bios has different resolution, the pc can't launch it, maybe a displayport cable could be the answer. compatibily issues and cables are annoying
@@TechLabUK Thank you man, in case it works, I'll let you know, so if you have any similar issue you don't get stuck on a frustrating roadblock. It'll be a first, weird issue
@@TechLabUK I removed the battery from the motherboard to reset the bios and it booted straight into it. I guess it wasn't a cable problem. I feel stupid...
You could update it through the bios like normal? Drop the new bios onto a USB stick, insert it and boot, go into the bios and use the built in flash utility.
@@TechLabUK i appreciate the reply. However, I tried that originally, but the 2 times I did it, an error message came up on the bios menu, but it said there was a Bios ID check error both times
@@ZergRaines That would have beent he wrong bios files. You need to make sure you don't have to go to an earlier version first, sometimes you have to go up in steps. Or... your board is a V1.0 and the bios you downloaded is for V2.0 or something. CPUz should tell you the exact Version you have.
@@TechLabUK I figured it out. You’re right, I had the wrong Rev version. My box said 1.0, but the physical motherboard itself says 1.2. Idk why they were different but all is well now lol. Thank you boss
@@ZergRaines Glad you got it sorted, they are annoying for things like this. Just a good job the updater warns you, I bet back in the day they didn’t and many boards got bricked.
@@champizthename8513 I have used usbs with other files on them, just select the right one when doing the flash. Never done it from an external HD though so can’t really comment on that side of things.
so if i have the F50 bios do i need to go through all the next updates till i get to the most recent one or can i just jump to the most recent one? thank you in advance
Not all of them, just the ones highlighted on the bios list as mandatory before you move on. If there’s no mandatory warnings you can go from current to latest.
My software says please update BIOS to the latest version before updating your BIOS that is the most redundant line of words I've ever seen update your BIOS so you can update your BIOS good good job
It probably means there is a mandatory update in between the one you have and the one you are going to. This should be displayed in the list of bios's on the boards website. Sometimes you have to go incrementally.
I updated the bios because I could not enter on it. When I press the key to enter to bios the screen turn off and says unsupported hz off the monitor device. What should I do?
@@TechLabUK I did, I cleared the BIOS but still not entering on it. Note that i'm using and old vga with d sub input. I'm thinking to update they Bios.
Hi pls help me i need to know if i can directly update my bios to the latest, im using b450 elite v1 on F41 version please help me as i am scared if i may brick my motherboard by straight up update to the latest one
Looking at the Gigabyte website for the board it appears you can go straight to the latest. F41 and F50 just require you going to F40 first which you already have.
Hi, I have B450 Aorus Elite and I haven't updated the bios for 3years. Im planning to upgrade my CPU from 3400g to R5 5600, the current version that I have is F51. Can I update the Bios with the latest version directly?
According to their website. Yes, yes you can as there are no red warnings between them: www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-ELITE-rev-1x/support#support-dl-bios
@@TechLabUK Awesome, what about on the cpu replacing part? Should I follow these steps? Update Bios>Boot>TurnOff>Put new CPU>then Boot again Am I correct?
This is a stressful nightmare. I have a Ryzen 5 2600X on a Gigabyte Aorus Elite Gaming Motherboard. The BIOS is currently the F41 2019 date. i just want to buy a Ryzen 7 5800X to upgrade it. I want to download the latest bios. Use @BIOS to update it. Then install a 5800X CPU. It's like walking through a minefield with a pencil map drawn where you simply follow the line to get to the other side or, on the other hand end up going all over the place and eventually finding the other side. Or you step on a mine while following the path. What a hassle. WHY don't Gigabyte still have the dual BIOS setup so that you can recover with ease ??? I almost want to go out and buy a B550 with the absolute latest BIOS in it, move my RAM over, Install the 5800X in it and replace my B450 with the new board. Sorry for that silly rant, but you get my meaning. 😑🤢😵😵💫
Hi all, sorry to bother, but i have a problem on my pc, and i dont know if someone can help me but lets go, i have a strange issue on my pc for a while, when i start windows in safe mode sometimes when it reaches the desktop in some seconds i get a blackscreen crash and i have to force shutdown in the psu switch, but the strange thing is sometimes doesnt crash and stays there for very minutes and i can ddu or do something, and if i start a normal session on windows the pc works great, great gaming performance, very good temps, stress testing never crash too and the temps are good, and never crashed and never got blackscreens and works like a champ, but the issue its only in safe mode? Why? Everytime i need to ddu i have that chance of get a blackscreen crash in the safe mode and rarely but sometimes resets my bios settings, well my specs are b450 aorus elite v2, ryzen 3700x, rx 6750xt, 4x8gb corsair vengeance lpx 3200mhz (2black2white, black and white build i dont care rgbs 😅) the psu is a corsair rm850 white and i use windows 10, things i have tried, fresh install windows, disabled SAM, some ram settings from auto 2133 to 3200mhz, only 2 sticks of ram, updated bios, checked all cables, changed psu, before i had a seasonic, well for now my only solution is to not go to safe mode, but for me thats not a solution, something is happening in safe mode to get the crash but i dont know, i googled and i cant find anyone with this problem, its a mistery, i just discovered the issue when i had to ddu in safe mode, some months after the building, because in normal session the pc works without any problem, if someone can help me...😒 sorry my english is a little bad 😅
@@tannerjones8292 I am not familiar with the board tbh but if it doesn't work via software usually the USB / Bios method works. I believe you should use the noted Bios Flash USB Port if it has one so the bios can pick up the files.
Generally yes but always worth reading through some of the notes on the page as one later update may need a specific previous one to work. They are usually marked as "Requires X version first" and if that's the case you need to move up to X before you can go to latest.
@@TechLabUK i have BIOS F50 now and i need F60 for an Ryzen 5 5600x. can i just download latest or do i need to upgrade to another version first cause i have never touched my BIOS
@@games4real420 Ok just checked. You will need a minimum of F60 but going to the latest will cover it and as long as you already have F40 or above (You have F50 so you are fine) you can go straight to the latest.
They usually fail because you are going to a Bios that requires another one first (Check the Bios list for the board for any Red warning markers) or because it is a bios for the wrong board. This happens when they have different revision boards (v1.0, v2.0 etc) and it's not always easy to see which one you have. Might be worth checking with something like CPUz.
Currently im using f50 version using my 3200g if i update my bios in f63 which support 4th gen and 5th gen, can i still use my 3th gen apu with f63 version?
Usually yes but worth scanning through the list of releases between to see if any have a note saying they remove support for specific CPUs. Generally if they do it's the older A-Series so you should be good. A lot of the time the update won't even work at all if you are trying to update to a bios that doesn't support the CPU you have installed, had this issue today with an Asus board.
Installed the AppCenter. There is no @BIOS tool in there. Looks like it needs to be downloaded separately from support site. What a useless design this app center.

I think we all go through that but at some point a bios update is needed for something. They are much safer now than in the past as long as you follow the correct guidelines from the manufacturers.
