I did it with the flashback and it worked perfectly, thank you! (I don't know if it's needed, but I also reset all bios settings before updating just in case)
@@HamletYT Hey man! I'm super sorry I never saw the comment. My bad. Yes, I noticed that games were not crashing as much (Call of Duty which always crashes), but the performance was good. I didn't really notice anything different in that regard. There's another BIOS update for the x570 gaming edge wifi which I'm going to be doing tonight. Games are crashing again...
Good, you didn't list the horrid live update option that corrupts the bios. I always use the bios flashback button but either bios option works well... Good job for listing the warning... I would have recommended when in doubt to use an UPS or APC battery backup... Luckily bios flashback can still work with a corrupt bios, I should know. Live update corrupted my bios twice never ever being successful.
Probably is because your flashdrive try with older pendrives like 2012 Ones that cheap ones for the school back then like the Wii and ps3 if u flash it, some newer pendrives with fat32 dont work as they should, try to ask someone who had one old or something or get a 1$ pen drive in marketplace
It could also be that you have the most current bios version on your system. In that case you wont get the pop up windows asking if you want to select that file. This may only apply to newer motherboards!
When I unzipped the update there were 3 files not 2. Then in M-flash there was the option to update BIOS and another to update BIOS and ME. I decided to just update BIOS and it seemed to work just fine. Should I also update ME and is that what the extra file in the zipped folder is for?
Your video made my life like helll. instead of using flash bios button i updated bios from inside bios option. the ".ROM" somehow make whole the pc unstable. sometime it boot sometime not. then again flash the bios. now everything just fine
I have a flash drive that's default is fat32 and so when I format it just wipes everything, not sure if that's the source of the error. But when I go into BIOS and to do the M flash the flash drive just shows up blank. No file just the directory folder. I don't have any other flashdrives just laying around atm so I can't update it and I don't have a feasible way to get ahold of one. So I have to make it work otherwise my motherboard's old bios will conflict with my new cpu. The board doesn't seem to have a flash bios button either.
Formatting a USB will wipe the USB (it's somewhat the point of formatting). I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the USB drive. Mflash and the flashback button are terribly picky with the USB flash drive you use to upgrade the BIOS with. You can try the flashback button, you should have one as most modern day boards include them, but I don't think you'll have much luck with it if Mflash doesn't work. I really suggest getting a new USB flash drive. Your best bet is to get a brand name drive (San disk, Lexar, Kingston) that is 8-16GB in size. It shouldn't cost more than $10 and is totally worth it if you need it to upgrade your CPU. It is possible to upgrade your BIOS using MSI's dragon center software but I Highly Highly DON'T recommend it and I have heard horror story's if it bricking motherboards.
I have a MSI codex X3 prebuilt motherboard is Z270 SLI plus, bought from microcenter 5 years ago, yesterday I just bought 3600mzh ram and i am getting 2133mhz, so I saw a message asking me to go into bios to make update. Then I realized that a lot of the BIOS features seem to have gone from the BIOS, there should be 6 sections on the main part of the BIOS, like overclocking settings, advanced options, but there are only 3 tabs. Overclocking tab is not there. I tried updating the bios using M-flash which should be a tab on the BIOS, but its not there. I think this is a custom kinda BIOS that microcenter and MSI have done, they got it locked up and extremely limited from future upgrades. Writing this whole experience makes me think that I just got scammed by either microcenter and MSI prebuilt pc and I just realized it 5 years later. Is there anyway to unlock this and make the motherboard back to normal status?
Does not work. I have tried both methods for 2 days over and over and it did not work. I went and got a new Memorex flash drive 16 gb and tried with that both methods and did not work. I won't make the mistake of buying MSI ever again since my current bios is 3 years old. From what I see on the web, I'm not alone with this problem. Shame on MSI and me for buying MSI.
This is mind boggling how complicated this is. I’ve been trying to update my BIOS for 2days. Is this an MSI thing or windows? If MSI I will never buy this again. Still trying to figure out what you said was the extraction app. Couldn’t hear what you said. Anyway back to work trying figure this out
Sorry I'm kinda confused. On the flash bios button, you said you don't have to have any components installed for this method, but the pc was already built in this video. So can i just download the bios from another computer and place it on a flash drive then plug it in my motherboard that doesn't have any components in yet? Sorry, I'm new to this.
The flashback button will work if the PC is fully built. But it will also work if the PC is not built yet and you only have the CPU installed and the 24-pin power cable form the power supply plugged into the motherboard.
I don't get the option to boot and enter flash mode. I get an option to select file to update BIOS and the only option is: FO: VendorCoProductCode. What is this?
@@k.andrew13 I was trying to update on an old MSI MB so I assume that may have been the issue. The old MSI MB would not boot so I scrapped that build and went with all new hardware and an Asus MB.
I have msi gf63 thin 11uc and idk why the bios are maybe the first version of click bios, I need to go to click bios 5, so I can have some real bios not only to see the parameters, is this possible or my motherboard can't handle it?
I have a small query, I tried to update via the mflash method. I reformatted the thumb drive and got to the menu where I was supposed to be but the update file was no where to be seen. Do perhaps have to use winrar or can I just extract the files normally, and perhaps my thumb drive is incompatable for this purpose.
@Dokkasan I figured out that I was downloading the wrong bios. I was trying to get the bios for the motherboard but msi has the odd one for the whole pc.
@@user82564 i found i was trying to download the wrong bios there was a bios for the make of the PC I had instead of for must the motherboard. But took a lot of attempts to figure that out. I had to get the msi trident bios.
Help, why or how do I get the "board explorer" feature on MSI bios? I have z690 tomahawk ddr4 wifi MOBO and it shows "beta" in the box where "board explorer" would be if I had it.

I extract the file and move it to the USB but the file doesn’t show up when I’m in M flash, the usb works and it lets me access it from M flash but the bios update never appears. Does anyone know the reason.
I noticed i have the same CPU as you. My PC crashes then starts to blue screen after saying check cpu fan cpu is overheating when theres no real reason i can think of. Does the bios matter in that case or have you had this issue as well. I run my 4 sticks of 16gb ram at 3600mhz with no xmp profile on. Idk if that's the cause. If you ever have time to let me know your thoughts please do im over this. i'm almost close to scrapping my pc and saying bye to gaming.
Hi! I have the same motherboard as yours. Bios version 1.50.Everything works fine except my internet speeds. I have a 500mbps internet plan and I'm only getting capped 100mbps. Already tried different cables Cat5e and Cat6/e but still capped at 100mbps. I've upgraded from Gigabyte A320m s2h v2 and Asrock B450m steel legend respectively and I was getting my full 500mbps on those budget motherboard. Am I missing something to download here? I was expecting to get the full 500mbps especially with this B550 chipset vs. A320 and b450. Will apppreciate your help, thank you!
@@ZHasta I’m not exactly sure I think I was just unplugging the computer and and the reset button on the motherboard whatever that thingy is I’m not 100% sure tho
Hey dude I was able to update my bios and set up my xmp profile, while I was in the bios I turned of the rgb lights on the pump cooler so I tried to boot up the bios again and now I only get a black screen. Any ideas what’s wrong?
