Hi mate really enjoy learning this just subscribed I'm with Virgin media just bought Asus zenwifi pro xt12 after 3 days there is an update few people have said don't update as sometimes things mess up I'm using Asus firmware what's the benefit to the firmware you're using and will it avoid the warranty I haven't made any changes at the moment I'm using Ai mesh with 2 xt12 units I will be joining BT or EE next year you're videos are really helpful especially the first video showing how to use own router thanks and keep up with the great work
Hi - welcome to the channel. I use the Merlin Firmware as it seems more stable than the stock firmware. For me the advantages of the firmware include that he irons out the bugs from the stock firmware, adds new features (some of which get adopted by ASUS themselves) and opens up the ability to enable user scripts, add cron jobs and loads more. You can switch back to the stock firmware at any time. In terms of warranty I don't know I'm afraid. But when I got my RT-AX88U i flashed it within minutes after taking out of the box :)
@@Builtbypete Thank you for replying! Is it safe? Also say when I join any of Openreachs network do I still need to use there router, or can I use the ONT box like you have? As my TV package is with Sky, I might get a better deal. Thank you so much for replying!!
@@googlefriend7685 You can use your own router. This is how I used my ASUS instead of BTs router: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DueAvG-dCHU.html
The default login for an ASUS router will be included in the instructions. For most the default is username=admin password=password. Once you've logged I would then recommend change the details to something else.
