FINALLY someone put out an ACCURATE video for an actual 2018 Honda HR-V!! Thank you! All others showed earlier or later models and claimed to cover this year. I really appreciate it!

I did swap out the fog lights too, but I had the dealership put those in because it involved a lot more, like removing the front under panel. I recommend you ask them to do it, the next time you go in for an oil change.

I didn't have to do all that taking off the rubber pieces. I just took the halogen and added the leds. Maybe cause mine is a 2021 and I used a different brand called alla lighting

Just so you know if you don't know the Kelvin is just the tint of the led not the brightness the higher the Kelvin the more of a blue tint you will get. Anything higher than 6500 kelvin turn to a more blue tint.. I like mine under 6500k so you get that white light. 5000k and under is a more natural tint. The brightness is lumens

Not the finger print makes the bulb burned out. The oil on the finger makes the bulb burned out.

I added my own foglights my trim didn't come with foglights.. I plan on installing rgb foglights that way I can have white lights for dark and then I'll switch it to yellow when the weather is actually foggy.. For foggy days the lower the kelvin/tint the better.. Neutral low tint will shoot a beam through the fog.. The cooler white tints beam won't go through fog

@ChardTheTechGuy

I like the new grill and the new features added like the Honda Sensing, but those new price tags are a little steep. I don't like the fact they removed the HDMI port because I use that port in my 2016. I also think they should have added the LED headlights and fog lights to the EX trim and up and not just the Touring.

@@ChardTheTechGuy .... speaking of DRL light, so no modification at all? the DRL (LED DRL) now still work as intended?
@timothymiller5425
@timothymiller5425 4 года назад
VERY SIMPLE.... If your vehicle didn't come with LED'S Don't use them. They throw off a different" throw" pattern than bulbs. Halogen bulbs use a deeper reflector that are "tuned" for halogen, halogen/xenon bulbs. Why blind oncoming vehicles because of ignorance? Also having been an optical engineer in the printing industry for over 30 years my expertise says, please do NOT touch illuminating surfaces of any light source. The acid in one's skin takes the coating off and greatly reduces the lifespan and in some cases diminishes the brilliance by 2 lux! That could be an equivalent to 1 focal stop. Also bubbling and quick dispatch could occur.

I find the bulbs on the HRV are absolute garbage. Driving I find almost no difference between the headlights being on normal or low mode while everyone on the road I see their headlights reaching far.
@hawkermustang
@hawkermustang 6 лет назад
Maybe changing bulbs changed your headlight alignment? Maybe you should lower your beams a little to get them out of peoples eyes.
@ChardTheTechGuy
@ChardTheTechGuy 6 лет назад
Hawkermustang, you know I tried adjusting them, but don't make a difference. Check the specs difference below. LED Headlights Light intensity - 6000 Lumen Color temp - 6500K Watts - 36 W Halogen Headlights Light intensity - 1550 Lumen Color temp - 3200K Watts - 55 W As you can see the LEDs are just more powerful so it's just no way to control the output. Maybe if I put a smoke tint on the lens...

The reason you're blinding other drivers is because you didn't buy the right LED bulbs and you didn't center and level them properly. Next time, do more research before you make a video.
@ChardTheTechGuy
@ChardTheTechGuy 3 года назад
This video is 3 years old and I don't even have that vehicle any more, at that time that's the only one available to fit the HRV housing. So I made some adjustments to reduce the brightness after doing my research. Thanks

It’s funny that so manny people say touching the bulb will make the light go out. I don’t care if it’s led, lcd, pcp, it’s not gonna make a difference. You’r finger grease scientifically can not burn out your bulb.
@ChardTheTechGuy
@ChardTheTechGuy 4 года назад
Thanks for that, I guess it's one of those myths that got started and keep passing on through time. I only heard about it on the regular glass bulbs, it happened to me in the past.
@jashpaper8370
@jashpaper8370 4 года назад
Finger grease removes chemicals on the glass. Without the chemicals that part of the bulb you touched will get hot and bubble out until it breaks.. it's not a myth and if you don't believe me Google it.. and if you still don't believe it... Then enjoy your broken bulbs

Kind of spent a thought on why it might well not be legal to simply replace "dim" halogen bulbs with some super bright LED lights? Kind of thought about oncoming cars whose drivers might get totally blinded by an irresponsible idiot who just replaced those "dim" halogen bulbs with some super bright LED lights that were never tested and released by the car maker as a replacement for halogen bulbs in headlights that were designed for the use of halogen bulbs? If you want LED headlights in your car and use the car on public roads, get proper LED headlights that are designed and released by the car maker for the model that you want to use them in. Otherwise you will run into trouble with the law, and right so!
@ChardTheTechGuy
@ChardTheTechGuy 5 лет назад
Thank you for your comment and voicing your honest opinion Eric, luckily I'm not one of those idiots that live in your area to blind you out at night and sorry you have to experience that daily, but LED bulbs, in general, are much brighter than halogen bulbs they are naturally designed that way, whether its factory installed (Audi, Lexus, Mercedes to name a few) or aftermarket they are just brighter. The lights I installed on my car must be legal because I had them for two and a half years now without one ticket. I respect what you say and understand that it can be blinding at night when drivers with LED headlights don't consider others with halogen headlights I've experienced it myself, so if I drive at night I am responsible enough to dim my LED Headlights down so they are not blinding to my fellow oncoming drivers on the road. I don't the driver is an idiot if anything I say the person who created those lights is if you really look at it.
@EricMustardman
@EricMustardman 5 лет назад
@@ChardTheTechGuy Yeah, I had that problem with blinding LED or xenon headlights a couple of times, and it's always very irritating. Once I even had to stop my car immedately by the side of the road because I completely lost my orientation. I know that LED lights are designed to be brighter than halogen, and that's OK as long as you don't blind other people with them or use LED bulbs in car headlights when they weren't designed for one another.
