Thanks... I remember replacing the fan once on this laptop otherwise it's been a keeper. Actually got Windows 11 running on this thing and going to spring for an 8gb stick.

🫠Regarding your question, the L version stands for Low voltage and that is compatible with all motherboards, the higher the GB of the ram you go the higher the volt and amp will be needing, so it is highly recommended to go with L versions if you upgrading. no DDR3 and DDR3L are not totally the same, the L stands for low voltage. some laptops support Low voltage and none low voltage so they care compatible with L and none L . but your laptop it has to be a L version. and don't worry about pc pcl.

@@uFixTek I Searched in google it says: What type of memory does the HP EliteBook 8460p Laptop take? The HP EliteBook 8460p Laptop takes the PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM SODIMM 204pin memory memory type, and comes installed with 4GB (Removable) memory.

Hello guys and girls, I have a problem. I have elitebook 8460p , had 8 gb ram and caps lock was blinking so i did all tricks possible under the sun with no luck. I decided to change the ram and i got it going with only 1gb stick . The i change the ram again to 4gb and caps lock start blinking , i try 10 sticks 2,4,gb sticks and get blinking caps lock then switch again to 1gb stick and was working and working very good but is only 1gb ram . I see that the factory recommends 4gb dd3l 10600S this doesn't work. My 1gb is 1rx8 pc3 8500S and with this one works . What ca be the problem here . Thanks

We suggest trying to update the BIOS first to see if that resolves the issue. If not, you may need to desolder the BIOS chip and replace it, which you can find for sale on eBay. We don't recommend repeatedly attempting to start up the computer (e.g., 90 times) in the hope that the BIOS will eventually recognize the RAM and boot up. Instead, follow our suggestions for updating or replacing the BIOS.
