Till this day I am still using this device, it works fine. I also install a custom os (Ghostspectre Windows 11) to it. Much faster and feels like a modern laptop.
Perfect tutorial. I was considering just throwing my 8460p in the bin, but after watching this video, I'm going to invest a few $$ and see if I can breath some new life back into my workhorse. She's a little sluggish after installing Windows 10, but a few new parts might be worth it. Thank you.!!
Great video, and I've had one of these for over 4 years, and love this laptop... I'm going to upgrade the ram to max it out at 16GB I didn't think it would go out that much. That's awesome...
Great instructional video! I just swapped from Win7 to Win10Pro, put in an SSD and upgraded to 8 GB RAM - great machine now! BTW installing Win10 on a new partition was easy and straight trough!
Really clear and useful video, I want to ask about a message appears when booting this laptop " Bios-Application-Error-501" after that I click enter and it boots normally. This message is annoying every time when booting or restarting, any solution about it, I'd be grateful.

In theory it should support larger drives, but I'd question spending that much on an older laptop when that money could be used to buy a better performing machine
Great video, clear and concise! I inherited one of these about three months ago, I only upgraded the memory to 16GB, though s bit weighty, it's a very useful laptop. My battery only lasts about an hour and a half, I think that's half the original life, so I will look to buy a new battery. I'm thinking of buying another one of these laptops for my kid, what do you think a fair price for one of these laptops would be? Also, do you know what the bluetooth us used for...should I be able to connect bluetooth head phones or speakers to the laptop? I've tried, the LT finds the devices, and connects but they don't work?
Hi, fair price would depend on where you are and which specification you were looking for. The Bluetooth can be used for Bluetooth accessories like headsets, mice and keyboards
can u also show how to connect 2 monitors with 8460p? 2 separate monitors and extended display on all 3 screens...? i have tried a lot of thing but I am able to obtain display on 1 monitors so far, as per the manual (also read in some blog post) that up to 4 monitors can be attached to 8460p but nobody seems to know how.... can u like make an extended video.... thanks in advance

i tried that i installed the original ssd back in the laptop but still nothing the power light came on but the charging light came on and turned off and other lights are blinking
How can I use this hard drive on my desktop? My graphic card recently died on my HP 8460p laptop and I want to salvage some data from the hard drive if I can.
First double check that it has Bluetooth installed, check that the aerial leads are connected. Check in device manager that the card is recognised and that appropriate drivers are installed

Hi, the 1333 or 1866 number is the speed of the RAM, in a machine this old it's less likely to matter which you go with, though in theory faster is better. With the hard disk I have put some links in the video description to models I think are worthwhile
I cannot for the life of me get mine to boot from thumb drive to install the operating system. I am pressing F9 to access boot menu, but it brings me to the Diagnostics and when I press F10, that too brings me to the diagnostics.
Wow , that tutorial was clear as a sunny day ! So what brought me here !? , well i got one of those babies recently , it's a pretty fast machine compared to other laptops i had in the past and the only problem i am facing right now is that after some time playing games with it , it seems to be full or something , get's really laggy and sometimes i might start playing a game till one day suddenly it just doesn't want to run it anymore . So my question is : Could that be a RAM issue or Hard drive issue ??? Should i upgrade both ??? Thanks in advance !!!!
These are old laptops, it could be a number of issues. I wouldn't recommend running one of these as your main PC in 2021 unless you have a good system to ensure your files are backed up properly.
@@TechMadeEasyUK i figured that they are old by now but unfortunately right now i am not in the best financial situation with the economic crisis and covid 19... Finding a new laptop is not exactly in the menu right now, but just to give you an example, all it took was a sticker with i7 processor on it to make me buy it... 😂

You'll need to reinstall your operating system on the new disk, so make sure you have backups of all your files and applications before swapping out the drive

I just got one of these from work. It was in the lost and found for a year. I've refurbished it with these upgrades, but what I want to know is what is the best cpu I can upgrade to?
It would be unusual to be able to replace a cpu in a laptop, they are generally soldered on. Unfortunately I don't have one of these to hand anymore to check.

Question I upgraded to the 16 GB Ram, when I opened to start the replacement I've found that only one channel was in used for the 4 GB Ram that it had, anyways after installing the two 8GB each Ram I noticed that when I leave just one 8GB in one channel the computer boot up or re-start faster than when I Leave the two 8GB, 16GB total installed why is that?
Dont know if you respond to them anymore, looked around, but my hard drive wont go in. There is a tiny piece that blocks in and it almost acts like its slanted
@@TechMadeEasyUK Not trying to be one of those people, but I did find to get it in. I had to put the hardrive in the casing before I put the casing on the whole computer. Thank you for tur offer however!
