Thanks for the informational and creative DIY here! Some tips: you'll never find electrical tape in factory wiring in a car anywhere. Not advisable because in short order the heat will cause the tape to ooze, leaving shabby looking ends and that yuck adhesive exposed. Also best not to strip wire with cutters as you'll likely nick some of the strands, weakening the wire and lowering the current capacity marginally. Use a dedicated wire stripper. Best not to hold the wire 'steady' while the solder is cooling. The small movements of your hand will contribute to a 'cold' solder joint. Invest in a heat gun for use on heat shrinkable tubing. Produces much better more even results without singeing the tubing. Caution, mounting the horns forward facing right behind the kidney grill is not the best idea. Wait till you take a cross country trip and have bugs jammed and dried into your horns. Messing cleaning job, and may damage the horns long term.
+md65000 You should really familiarize yourself with the design of the E46 Radiator + mount. There is a massive cross member that obstructs far more airflow than those horns ever will. (Not to mention that the horns overlap with most of that cross member.) An oak leaf stuck on the radiator would have a bigger impact on cooling performance. Try again.
would of been nice to see the bmw factory connection, they may be different for various bmw models, E38 use a 2 pin connector, kinda like the bmw horns vs aftermarket, hope they pass the 5 mile bump test, or they'll be hitting your radiator, also hope they're waterproof
Hi B&B, love the tablet idea. i have a question that i was hoping you might be able to help with. I'm in the UK and have a 2007 Vauxhall Astra (h) mk5 (SATURN ASTRA IN THE STATES) with a BID display and I want to keep all the audio controls the same from the center console and steering wheel but just change the BID display to a android tablet. Any chance you could help with any information on what to do or how to go about the changes, even maybe what parts i need. any help is welcome and appreciated. thanks from an overseas fan
Whatever he recorded the video with doesn't do the horns justice. Those discordant Hella horns are no joke. When installing some I inadvertently gave them power and about launched myself up through the hood.
