I have been a professional semi driver for over 15 years, and this is the way it is properly done. It isn't complicated... You just have to match your engine speed to your transmission speed, which you know from your road speed. This information is good for any manual transmission, as long as you know your speeds, it will work.
@@bussy7264 your lying, no average person can jump up into those big machines and do what they do daily. Which makes them professional truck drivers ya hater
Just in case no one has told you, your videos on how to shift and float are the best on the internet and RU-vid. Trust me I have looked at a lot of them. You have a gift for explaining things and including the proper details.Trust me I have looked at a lot of videos on shifting and no one is explaining it properly as you are doing?
Thank you for taking the take to make this. I'm working on getting my CDL and have been struggling with the downshifting, I can downshift but it's not always clean. Your explanation and "rev in neutral" will definitely help me. Thank you
You make it easier for people to understand how to shift the gears in this truck , it's like you driving a manual shifter car . and thanks for putting the camera on the top so we can see the whole cabin and the way you drive .thank you so much .
You'll get it Nicholas. Pay attention to your speed/RPM and you'll do just fine. So what if you grind a couple. Pretty soon, you'll feel those gears drop in like nothin'!! Good luck to ya and keep the rubber side down! "Eagle Claw" on the side.
My new job that I’am starting soon, their trucks are 10speeds. I’ve never driven a 10speed before 😳. I was nervous just thinking about it, until I watched a couple videos. It’s not as bad as I thought🤔. I already know how to drive a manual, just never driven a 10peed. I just received my class A permit over a month ago. I had a class B. My new job is going to train me on their trucks. Once I get comfortable, I’ll take the truck out for my driving test. I’am nervous, and excited at the same time. Very good video 👌🏽.
Thank you for your video I haven't driven a truck in 4 years. Needed a refresher course your video was on point. Loved your video have a blessed ones keep on trucking man haha
Great video brother, well put together presentation. No silly music and editing, I like it. Nice clean tractor too, nice to see professionals out there!
I have been driving professionally for 2 years. Mostly automatics though. I haven’t really had to do much shifting. Not since CDL school. Your videos have brought me up to speed on floating.
Bro! That's how it be out here. Luckily, there are still companies that use both. Having those shifting skill come in handy! Never know when you'll be placed in a manual. It is a great feeling to be able to go from not being able to remember what gear you are in, to knowing when to shift by the sound of the motor, and never having to use the clutch to upshift or downshift. I still watch these videos. I fell in love with the whole CDL process. I only have had my license for 4 years, but I am always trying to become a better professional. Stay safe out here homie!!
Thanks for passing your knowledge along make more videos you make it look easy but we all know it takes practice and patience and you seem to have that 👍👍👍👍
Very good video Sir. The way you presented it will help a lot of newer drivers that are given a 10-speed to drive, to make their lives easier! Prefer a manual over the newfangled automatics these days, as I feel you have better control, especially in winter driving.
I love this video it is very smooth and compelling I like the concept of floating gears I must say good job on this video bro because I know this video will help others and even myself in the future
This is a great video. I’m fresh out of CDL driver training school. The only way we can shift is double clutch every single gear. It’s terrible and outdated. Then when school is done, now I have to learn how to float gears.
Yaad man 🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥🔥,this ma final week in class,so far just shifting correctly leave for me to catch and do my road test this video helping me out brogad 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is a great video I have found that every truck is a little different. But generally the same when it comes to the basics. I love the video very helpful , cool calm and collective the best thing to do when trucking is to find a comfortable seat position and learn from that. Long long days in a cab will be taxing if the comfort level isn’t on point. Great job My suggestion when it comes to Experience is the first year find a company to hire you work your ass off then make an indeed or monster account and just let that role see what happens
Yuh video a wan a di easiess fi overstand pon RU-vid bredda. Mi a learn pon a dump truck rite now an it well diffrent from standad inna car. Mi a watch yuh video a few more time an den mi a ago si wen the practical come 'round weh mi can apply. Bless up family 🇯🇲
Bro your badass i just got my first cdl job and my trainer is not that good at explaining things to me. This video is great i will try this tomorrow I'm probably going to impress my trainer, leave him in the dust
I’am hearing that Caribbean accent Mi brudda,I’am from St.kitts🇰🇳but now living in Toronto 🇨🇦and I have a friend that was trying to convince me to get my trucking license for years, but only now I’ve decided to get it and the manual is what I’am interested to learn,Very helpful video.#Bless up🙏🏽👊🏽
Island love 🇯🇲 go for it. I have created these video to help people have a better understanding of the concept. Thanks for watching from Canada big up!!
This video is so helpful just got my Cdl the only problem I have is stalling my truck from a stop because I think I don’t give it much gas or let go of the clutch fast not sure
@@FaroutTruckin For real....... Now I have the confidence to drive tomorrow morning to get the job. I'm all the way in Jamaica so big up to you from Jamaica.
Another well done video. I used to drive 30 yrs ago and getting back into it part time. The time I appear to have trouble is say your going along in 9th and you slow down fairly suddenly, one is I have trouble deciding what gear I should be in and then I grind away. Can I still just go by the rpms no matter the speed of truck and simply get it up around 14 to 1500 let it drop a bit and go into any gear without grinding? Basically I have trouble on a rapid slow down. Thanks again!
Thank u for ur video I just learning next 2 week I have the test my question did I use the Gas to get 1500 RPM when I upgrade or down shaft to Neutral ? Then I will use it to move the gear from N to other gear ,,hope u explain it to me
Make the k sing brrrrrrrrrrpppppp 🇯🇲…. Am currently doing class for my CDL A license second day on the road, need to work on double clutching. Wish it was just one press I’d be good bro. Great video on floating gears 👊🏾!
Could also be one press, to do this you would bring your rpm to 15, foot gently off the gas, take the tranny out of gear and single clutch to next gear.
Hey man I gotta question so I can float up shifting but not down I have to double clutch.when I down shift I have to give it gas to get it in neutral then I have to give it a little gas to rev the rpm then I just take my foot off of the gas after and slip it into the lower gear ? Or do I hold the gas when I rev and put it in gear ?
I am planning to get my truck license. I don't get when do you press the clutch during gear change? it looks like it is different than a normal manual car.
Do you have to rev in to get out of gear and rev to get back in gear?, im a new driver and floating gears looks way easier then double cluching... new subscriber, keep coming out with the great content 👍🔥
Any tips on downshifting while loaded going up a hill? I'm having trouble with this since the rpms are dropping much faster than usual bc of the hill and being loaded. Thanks
Downshift early. If you feel like the fuel pedal is dead and engine is becoming quiet and truck slowing down. That means downshift. Downshift early at 1300 and rev match to 1800 rpms.
If u make the shift in 2 seconds you will not have to rev to go to 9th gear, but if you take longer than 2 sec to shift, your rpm will drop and that’s when you will have to rev match and go to 9 ( same as recovering your gear).
@@FaroutTruckin i just got my class A last week im nervous to start on my own or float gears on steep hills or being stopped at a hill and rolling back as well
