I used to plug my rocksmith cable into an audio interface, I still sometimes do that, but just say my rocksmith cable isn't within reach, i will play through my audio interface by creating an aggregate audio device then use the pod hd500x directly. (I also use this method when I want to play multiplayer as there is no way i am paying that price for a cheap cable.) it works a lot better than that crap cable as well, then sometimes I want to output my guitar through the amp and still use rocksmith, and that is when I do need the real tone cable, though I guess I could make another aggregate device for another input, but then it would just complicate things and be annoying with switching things off and back on all the time. but anyway when playing through amp, I use my custom patches on the pod hd500x with an fx loop at the beginning of the chain, I then put the real tone cable into the fx send so rocksmith gets the clean tone. I then jam away.
Thanks for the great vid, was looking at an audio interface to get but wasnt sure how much I would use it, I play rocksmith alot so yeah I am getting one now, am hoping that the accuracy will be better through an interface than the rocksmith cable.
1800 hours in RS 2014. Note: RS+ is garbage. All my sound issues in RS 2014 Remastered disappeared once I set my pc's (Rocksmith USB Guitar Adapter) record setting (advanced tab) to default format of 48K. I can play though my default desktop speaks or my Focusrite Gen 3 audio interface to my HS8 monitor speakers. Yes, the real tone cable is cheap garbage for $30. You must treat it with kids gloves. I'm on my third one and always have one extra on hand. Note: I also like playing RS disconnected using my Headrush Prime. It's incredible. I just watched your video again. I don't get why you have so much trouble. I installed RS. Plugged in my cable, set the default format to 48K and it's free sailing ever since. Even adding the audio interface for the Yamaha HS8 speakers went flawlessly.
Works for me with Steinberg UR22mkII. The solution I used is called Voicemeeter Potato. My bass is plugged into the second input, then ASIO Input 1 + 2 on Potato is mapped to VAIO3. Rocksmith detects the signal properly.
Hey I tried your fix and I was happy I finally got the signal but I can't hear my guitar in game tho. did you hear your guitar + get the signal with that fix? + First time using Voicemeeter Potato so could you explain more in detail what you did in the software to make it work so I might see what I did wrong.
You don't technically have to put it in the first mic input port, for me this would be an issue as I don't want to adjust the gain knob for my mic setup every time I want to play this. To cirumvent this issue I found out you can locate and open the state.cfg file in Notepad. By default, you can find it in Documents/My Games/Rocksmith+. In the Audio Settings section, update connection_inputchannel as needed. Adding the value 0 will enable the input channel 1, adding value 1 will enable the input channel 2, and so forth.
@@ClarkeAfterDark after watching your video it made me think to do some digging, so with your video still on mind I had to share what I found that helped me!
Can You use the Tone Designer when using an USB interface? Because You have to select MIC INPUT where the interface shows up. My interface is working fine, but I can only hear the clean guitar.
Very useful guide! Thank you so much! I think i kind of broke my real tone cable, it's making a lot of noises ingame... I might as well try to buy a new interface...
I used to play Rocksmith daily for a year, but that damn cable kept messing with my audio settings so I rarely play anymore. I'll give this a try next week
thank you. this was driving me crazy, i could not find the setting anywhere in my options, thought i had an old version installed or something. but no i just had to press control lol
sooo, does the guitar audio come through in the game though? i have it set up the same way and it's working, except i'm getting no audio back out - i.e. i can't hear my bass
My interface (Scarlett Solo) finally works with Rocksmith 2014 Remastered, I use it with the XLR adapter in first input. It detects sound, it even tunes my guitar and sounds in the game are fine, BUT I hear no guitar sound. Just nothing.
Hello there, got a question for you, does the method you describe in this video only work if you have completed the initial calibration before using the official real tone cable? Because I got the game as a steam download, so obviously no cable. In my scenario I can't get past the very first initial calibration, I can't see any way to get to the main options menu like you get to by pressing ctrl.. ? Thanks
That is a known issue and I remember talking to someone that got around it but I can't exactly remember what they said. Let me look into it and see if I can find it
@@ClarkeAfterDark Sorry to bother, any news on this scenario? Also as I mentioned in the original post I made, have you ever successfully done this without first calibrating with a real tone cable? Thanks
hello! when I load up my bias fx or guitar rig from Cubase and then try to play the game, I lunch the game and it says I have to close my bias fx cause it's using the audio exclusively, and when I proceed like that the game has no audio at all. (I tried unchecking the exclusive mode from mic settings btw it didn't make a difference). the only way I've been able to make it work is when I plug into microphone input and even then I have only clean tone and none of the ingame pedals work for me. any instructions?
I'm not sure why it's doing that. I know bias is a pain in the ass about wanting the audio to go directly into it. Even when I load it up in Ableton sometimes I can't arm other tracks because it gives me no other output
I am using an 11 Rack. But when I got into the RS microphone input, I don't even see my interface show up. Do I need to do anything for it to recognize it?
Honestly anything you get cheap should work...but I personally recommend the focusrite interfaces they work great. Except for the solo because the first input is a xlr and you need 1/4"
So I have to get an adapter to make the 1/4 inch guitar cable fit into the line in/mic input 1 ? Rocksmith see's that input but does not hear if I connect guitar to the guitar input. Its seeing line in/mic input, which a 1/4 does not fit. Thanks
Ok, managed to make Rocksmith Remastered recognize my Behringer UMC204HD and it works with a 1/4'' guitar cable. The game plays, but the guitar is completely dry...Kind of a major bummer for Rock & Metal. How do you get the ''wet'' sound from Rocksmith with its Amps and pedals effects, now that the NoCable solution has been applied?
Hi, I installed Rocksmith on my mac and I'm using an audio interface (SteinbergUR44). The game detects the audio interface but theres no sound coming out of it like you showed on minute 2:25 of your video. I tried it on a Daw and works fine. Do you know what might be the issue?
it could just be the game not picking up the default sound device. Try to go into rocksmiths options and i believe there is something in there that says let rocksmith control audio or something along those lines. Try checking and unchecking that then restart the game.
@@ClarkeAfterDark The problem is that the game doesnt go further than the calibration/ tunning screen. I'm kinda stuck. Gonna try different options and user interfaces. Thanks
So I have the scarlett 2i4. rocksmith picks up the sound from it and I can play songs but I don't hear my guitar from the game. Is there a way to hear my guitar?
yea i know...the solo sucks with this game...the only way i have seen people have success with it is to get a 1/4 to xlr adapter...it sucks to get a extra piece...but i have had people tell me they had success with it and no other issues.
A lot of people don't know this, but you can plug a 1/4 into the xlr spot. It works perfectly fine. Try it out. Plug it straight into the middle of the xlr input.
to make matters even worse my Rode mic which is working completly correctly cannot be heard by Rocksmith. Where the fuck is Rocksmith 2018? @@ClarkeAfterDark
@ClarkeAfterDark can you please your Rocksmith.ini settings as mine also does NOT show input device to choose the ubs interface. Is your Rocksmith Remastered or 2014 version? Thank you for posting this video. :)
Thanks man, I'll need to try this. The RS cable works for me, but I do find it clunky and would prefer a normal cable. Ideally you should reinstall a fresh windows every year. I know that it sucks, but windows is still King for business and gaming.
yea but i cant really afford to reinstall every year. I have so many vst plugins that take so long to reinstall and some that only allow you 3 uses of the installer without having to go through a technical support and get a new install code. I went through that once and never again lol. And some of them cannot be installed on a separate drive or i would just do that.
Hey! I have my Scarlett 2i2 hooked up & working with my Bias FX. When I go into RockSmith Settings I do not see my Scarlett? the major problem with the RockSmith cable for me is the NOISE in the LINE. Any suggestions ? Thank You so MUch.
its stupid ass windows. Try starting the game up then alt tab out of it go down to the bottom right where the sound icon is then right click it then go to playback find your default audio device and set something else as default then change it back to the original device...once you get it working once the game remembers the setting
Is there a possibility that i get the Game sound output from my guitar? i mean i dont get the guitar ingame sound of my guitar using a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2
i mean like using the rocksmith cabel ^^ getting the ingame Sound from playing my guitar while using an Interface. I have a signal and i can play but no sound from my own guitar. Is there a way to fix it? As not using Amp Emulators on PC? you know? :D
@@takarashun9680 you can but it's a pain because it doesn't always work the first time. You have to start the game up and make sure under options you have a setting unchecked that allows rocksmith to control all audio. Then when rocksmith is open you alt tab out of it then go to windows settings and make sure your interface is the default output device
I know this is WAAAAAAAY too late, but When I got the Real Tone Cable. It worked fine 1st time. I plugged it in, and windows said it recognized it as rock smith real tone cable, but it said it was a microphone, which alarmed me at first, but It worked, I did the calibration, and tuned, and it worked Perfectly, so I don't know what going on with other people, but The thing is i got the cable off of Amazon for like $15.
The error I got was "Rocksmith has detected that your speakers or headphones are not properly configured, Please ensure your drivers are up to date and that your playback audio device supports 48Khz 16bit playback, if not your device may not be supported." I do happen to have a Scarlet interface though so I'll try this before giving up since nothing else seemed to work.
sounds like a sample rate issue. Set all your devices to the same sample rate as that of your audio device. For Example: I have a scartlet 8i6 which has the sample rate of "16 bit @ 48000hz" so you'd set your speakers to match the sample rate. Goto: Control Panel-->Sound--->(Playback Tab) -->Properties-->Advanced--> There will be a combobox allowing you to adjust your sample rate.
@@Jonthebard make sure in your mixer you have desktop audio on and make sure if you have one that says mic that it is not your guitar signal going in. It might be that your mic and guitar signal are going through on the same track
I got a Steinberg UR22, I've tried loads of stuff and I just can't get it to work. The interface just doesn't show up as a microphone despite using MIC. I tried setting it up in a way that the onboard mic on my laptop listens to the audio interface but that didn't work either. Have you got any ideas?
I just had someone else comment that has a ur22... They ran a cable from their headphone jack of the ur22 and into the mic jack of their pc. They said it worked with no issues
@@chefkochmurat2550 ohh OK... So you just plugged it in directly and bipassed the ur22? I thought you were running out of the headphone jack and back into the pc
Has anyone managed to get this to work with an Audient audio interface. When I got to the path settings it doesn't see my Audio Interface, its not listed as an option.
I use a Behringer UMC22 and the captures the sound, but when I try to tune the guitar it captures sound but i cant tune it and when i try to play a song it doesnt work. Can someone help me? I´ve been here hours trying to figure the problem
I tried plugging in the interface I have into my computer (which is a Steinburg U22C) and it picks up my guitar fine, but I’m not getting any sound from the game (or at least it doesn’t pick up any of the notes I’m playing). Are these steps different for a Mac, or should it work for either Apple or PC? I’d really appreciate any kind of help, thanks
ClarkeAfterDark It’s all good, I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon through a bit more trial and error. I appreciate the feedback though, the advice in the videos was really helpful so thanks
@@ClarkeAfterDark It's totally fine, it was the first time I tried something like this but your advice was still helpful so thanks. It's no problem whatsoever, really
did you get it fixed? I'm on mac and using UR22, it lets me use it, picks up the signal, but don't hear the guitar in the game, unless I mix in the dry guitar input on the interface, which doesn't sound fun.
I have a focusrite 2i2, but i was wondering if it would be best to plug my headphone on my computer integrated soundcard or the headphone output on the focusrite?
i personally do everything out of my interface. But you can do it either way. As far as i can see it doesnt introduce any noticeable lag. So its kind of up to you of what you prefer.
ClarkeAfterDark404 i cant seem to manage to get it running properly, i tried both mic mode and no cable patch, either way is making terrible distorsion, overamplified, screeching of death etc.. however i do have a realtone cable, and i keep wondering if its possible to get the cable and 2i2 working toguether, or exploiting the cable to run rocksmith on the audio interface.
alex v someone else had this problem and it ended up being the buffer rate that the interface was set at. Try going into your windows sound settings and make sure it's set for 2channel 48000hz. But yes you should be able to do that. The best way I seen to change audio output is to start the game and while it is up tab out of the game. Go to windows sound setting... Disable and re enable your interface and set it for default audio device. Idk why rock Smith is such a pain with it. But that worked for me when I had issues.
So i managed to get it working with no cable patch v3, guitar directly plugged into the focusrite, but headphone is plugged into motherboard audio, working tone designer, but distortion seems overkill, otherwise didnt really notice any latency lag. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7by4kwaznqU.html
sounds like the gain may be a little high in the game. Instead of adjusting it on your interface if you go into the audio settings turn it down a little. If you adjust it at the interface there is a possibility of it not reading notes clearly. But if you turn it down in game it reacts alot smoother.
guess i'll have to start making ubisoft rich with real tone cables. @@ClarkeAfterDark I bet the reason you can't download drivers for that cable is because they wanted to make it harder to hack or emulate the cable with a different kind of input.
@@stephenvanbellinghen687 idk i talked to support a few times when i was trying to get a real tone cable to work and they stated that it was just a simple usb to 1/4 pass through with a dongle that just converted the signal and only relied on default usb drivers. But the whole reason i looked into this solution in the first place is because the real tone cable on pc is shit. It constantly reads incorrectly and the only way i have found to make it work is to unplug it...delete the drivers it makes for it and plug it back in until it works.
mine came this morning i'm afraid to use it lol. (well actually i dont have free usb slot) If what ubisoft said is true- no reason u shouldnt be allowed to use the extensive amount of cables just like this one for $10 @@ClarkeAfterDark And if its not their cable then i mean, fire some coders before they make a 2019 version (prob should have done that before 2014 remaster -_-)
@@ClarkeAfterDark Thank you for the response! I tried this but it seems I couldn't change the rate to 16bit. Perhaps that's not adjustable on my audio interface?
Good luck and have fun! The Real Tone Cable worked for me on 2 different PC's. Installed Focusrite 2i2Gen3 and have nothing but issues all the way through and it STILL isn't working with Rocksmith 2014 properly!
There is a work around patch for that...it basically just tells the game that you already did the first set up. I'll have to look around to find it and get back to you
@@ClarkeAfterDark big thanks bro but I already fixed it, jusr downloaded new version and selected microphone setup but now the prroblem is that with audio interface I cant tune my guitar inside the game I thing that interface and guitarr need some volume adjustments
Okay, so I have an USB Cable plugged into the game and the game is recognizing the cable and has no delay or anything. But I cannot here the guitar ingame. All other ingame sounds are there but my own guitar sound is missing. How do I fix that?
@@MH-nu4ip oof, I watched a tutorial and I downloaded something, I can't remember it that well. When I get to my pc tomorrow, I can tell you almost exactly what to do ^^
There is also an ASIO mod for Rocksmith 2014. One thing I don't really like about ASIO4ALL is that it doesn't really separate audio in and audio out into categories, you just gotta turn things on and off in the ASIO4ALL dialogue until you've got sound out of your speakers. For people shopping for interfaces, consider a mixer with preamp instead. Preamp supplies power for the line which increases volume that is often lacking in USB Interfaces as USB can only provide 12v which is a far shot from 48v Phantom Power. Interfaces also have preamp as an option, but if you're in that price range then a Mixer will be much better utility.
Yes mine is also missing Input to change it to mic. Other menus are present. Two questions for OP. Is the game 2014 Remastered or just 2014 version? Other question for two of you guys is your guitar plugged into cable and usb interface?
@@sebsefyu it's just the 2014 version. When the guitar is plugged into interface, I couldn't start the game. I can only play the game with real tone cable.
in windows try setting it for 16bit 44100 hz and see if the game reads it. Sometimes it acts weird and doesn't detect unless its set at the same properties that a rocksmith cable is set at
For those who can't see inputs to choose where it says none for microphone option. Edit Rocksmith.ini set Real tone cable only to 0. Then you can choose input.
