Dad, if you take suggestions for videos, would you consider a "Dad talk" video meant for restless late nights? While I'm sure many of us have outgrown the days of going into our parent's bedroom at night when we're scared, there are still plenty (myself included) who deal with anxiety, depression, or panic attacks who still desire calm words from a parent on nights when sleep is kept at bay by a mind that just refuses to relax. I think it could fit right alongside your other videos and would be just as helpful as them too. Thank you again so much for your book. It's been a good comforting read full of insight I've needed and I’m very glad to be one of your many “kids.” (Sorry to keep making this comment, but the last video I commented I got deleted)

A very valuable skill and a total game changer if you live in an area prone to severe weather that creates power outages (also great for just camping)... I do want to add ONE thing about safety as someone who works with gas welding and brazing torches that carries over to this. When you're connecting a new tank, just like a large gas grill, blowtorch, welding or brazing torch, etc, you want to check the seal before lighting. It's easy enough to do and can help avoid accidents and also give you peace of mind.... Simply mix some liquid dish soap and some warm water a squeeze bottle or even a glass, then once you've made your connections, before you open the valves, squirt or pour a small bit of the soapy water on the connections and or hoses, just enough to get them wet, and watch them for a moment, just about 20 seconds, then open the valves but don't light it and watch again. If the soapy water bubbles, you don't have a good seal. If that happens, turn off the valves and tighten the connections more and try again before lighting. If you STILL see bubbles then you have a bad seal or line, which CAN happen in older connections, especially if they're stored in a garage or shop that's not climate controlled. 99.999% of the time these camp stoves, just like large gas grills, blowtorches, etc, are COMPLETELY safe to use as long as their used properly, BUT I always encourage everyone to take just the SMALL extra step to make using them even safer.

The best part about Coleman is that they usually don't have to change much. they may tweak the outer design because of the style or fashion, or metal costs, but the internals are pretty much the exact same. It just works,

@@DamienDarksideBlog That's why my 1973 Coleman Brandywine pop-up is still here! Other than redoing the floors, re-formicaing the table and cabinets, and one time re-wiring all the pulleys/cables (one snapped in the mid 00's so did them all at once brand new) years ago... the camper is in perfect condition.

My partner and I are going tent camping with friends next month so it’s good to know how to use one of these in case I have to😁 thanks, Dad! I’m so grateful for you. Today I fixed my roller blinds with subpar help from other channels. Roller blinds would be a great video to add! I had trouble with removing the header, I could only get one side of the roll out of the bracket and had some issues figuring out how to thread the chain while it’s still on the wall. I managed but a video from you would probably help others as well. Thank you!

Thanks, Dad. Couple questions regarding the propane tank: Does the tank need to be resealed to retain the gas? Where should the tank be stored or not stored when not in use? How do you responsibly dispose of the tank when it's empty? Thanks!! Appreciate you.

@sandyclaws5247 3 года назад
It self seals once it's disconnected, that was the pop. It can be stored anywhere away from direct heat/flame. I keep them in my garage, but I wouldn't want to leave it in direct sunlight. They can be refilled, or recycled once completely empty. 😊

So, it's basically that if you can switch the gas tube on a soda streamer then you can operate a propane stove? With the added caveat that you have to ensure that the valves are all shut when attaching the propane tank and when it's not in use, along with that... you know, it's flammable?

@misterkite
@misterkite 3 года назад
Walmart sells them, so does Ace Hardware and probably any hardware store near you. You can't refill them (legally). edit: seems like Coleman discontinued the green key tool.. that shows you how old my propane tank is :) Apparently now it's nearly impossible to recycle. So instead of the single-use tank shown in the video, get a refillable cylinder. They come with all the tools required to refill it from a standard 20lb bbq tank.
