Just wanted you to know. I’ve been asking my boyfriend for nearly 2 weeks to cut 2 pieces out for me that I bought for a project, I literally just needed 2 boards cut in half. He acted like it was the worst burden in the world , so finally I gave up. I’ve never done a project or anything diy before so it was intimidating. I read some how to’s and watched your videos, and today I successfully cut my boards without harming myself or anything else. Thank you for these. I still feel very accomplished. :)

I am remodeling my home by myself. It's BS to think you need a man to do it, UTube is a great source - amazingly generous people. And if I did have someone to do it for me, I would take it, I would rather create beauty in the home and garden but I am proud of myself for all I have done that I thought was impossible. I fixed my boiler after losing my job end of February, plumbing fixes, etc, stopped at the electrical, manybe not that one. Good for you!

Fantastic! Most "primers" seem to assume that I already know how t use a circ saw. You o9ffered both the basics of the doodads on the saw, AND how to do the two things that I bought it for -- slicing up 2x4s and trimming 8x4 luan sheets from 96" to 73." Well done, many thanks.

Thank you for this instructional video series. I have never picked up a circular saw in my life, but since I have just bought a house I need to learn instead of trying to get someone to do a lot of simple stuff for me. My first project will be building a small 'boardwalk' in my back yard and I will need to be able to cut planks and 2x4's for it. Hey there! I don't know if anyone has already commented anything about this but I'll go ahead and go on with it. Sometimes the lower guard will become stuck or jam up on you after you're done with a cut, after every cut make sure the lower guard goes back to it's natural position. The saw blade will keep running for a few seconds after you release the trigger so just be aware and safe about that. And make sure you're cord does not get in your way or you'll end up ripping it in half.

This is a really really good video guide (both parts of course)! I don't own a circular saw yet but I recently borrowed one and made a few first cuts without in-depth knowledge (had like a 20 sec introduction by the owner of the saw) but I have major respect for tools like this (same for my angle grinder that I've used a lot), because I know people have lost their fingers due to mistakes with these. After some training and learning from these guides I'm now ready to purchase my own circular saw. Thank you for making this guide, well earned thumps up and subscription!

Thank you. I followed my father around because I wanted to be like him. He was a Union master electrician who could do anything. He taught me so much, but I only watched him use his power saw. I have inherited it all - a vast treasure trove of well-made tools. I have his Skil circular saw that was probably made in the 60s. I'm retrovating my 1948 mid-century modern home and I need to cut some 1x3s to put the door frames back the way they were. But I was worried that I might injure myself. This teacher used the saw like my father - calm and under control. Thank you for reminding me!

thanks for the video, I have a Craftsman 7 1/4 , I've been intimidated to use. I'm tried to learn woodworking, years ago I wanted to take wood shop in school but was told no it was for boys only, the next year it was allowed, but you have to have taken it the previous year. I used to follow a 5 in one tool , only to have the salesman at a trade show only talk to my husband and ignore I was there. Funny thing is I scored higher on the placement test for the military in high school than the guys did in building section. I helped my dad do things but he didn't teach me how to use the tools. He was in the California Conservation Core and built things. I wish there were basic building classes for everyone without taking carpentry classes. As many people could do basic repairs or basic furniture . There are people in the city of Bakersfield that would love to have a club. There is a great club in Fresno but a couple hours away. Any way thanks alot.

So Thankful you made these video's .... I want to learn to use a power saw and other power equipment and have no one to teach me. I finally decided to buy a circular saw for some small projects and need help .... the only thing I know is how to use a drill. Your videos make it less intimidating and I feel confident that I can do the job and teach my grandson the basic.

Following my husband's death, I found there were lots of DIY jobs that I had to tackle solo, including cutting off the bottom of doors after I had had carpet fitted. I purchased a circular saw which I could handle, (not the monster that my husband had used for such jobs
