@ThriftDiving. I am planning to buy your recommended circular corded saw Ryobi. Is there any suggestion on Saw table that won;t break the bank? seems like tables are much more costlier than the saw it self.
I'm a 48 year-old dude with a lot of life experience but new to power tools, and this was the most informative video I've found on circular saws for beginners like me.
I'm completely intimidated by power tools but started with a pneumatic hammer, and made an amazing closet. Start with a project you need, it will work out.
47 here and I am very handy but this helped me a great deal since I was not familiar with a circular saw, though I have owned one for almost a year. I use my reciprocating saw heavily but need to use the circular.
I just got my first circular saw yesterday to do some home projects and haven't used one before. Thanks alot for this video is very helpful and I'm eager to learn and apply the knowledge! 😁👍🏻
Literally tried the handsaw and didn’t finish a single cut it was altogether too much. I think it’s time to put away the fear and just invest in the power saw.
I was skeptical clicking on play to this video when seeing all the Ryobi tools, but I was wrong to be skeptical. You know your stuff!!! This video was very informative! Thank you for posting it!
This is such an awesome video! 🤙🏼 🔥 I love woodworking but have been super nervous to get back into using these tools without a pro by my side. You make the steps and safety measures super easy to follow! It’s nice to see a woman confident in her wood working skills and helping us newbies for a change!! You definitely empower women across the globe to pursue their passion for woodworking, so thank you!!! 🙏🏼
Honestly, the BEST video I've seen on how to use this saw! The demonstration and extra information and different styles are so extremely helpful, you have no idea!!! THANK YOU!!!
Thank you Serena I am in my early 60's and have been struggling with power tools for years, but your reassuring and no nonsense explanation has shown me the way. Thank you. I am now the proud owner of a Jig & circular saw. Thanks once again
YAY!! So glad to hear that, Richard! :) That's awesome news. I can't wait to see what you do with those tools. Feel free to send me pictures! serena@thriftdiving.com
Thank you for keeping it short and simple with your explanations and not talking too slow or distracted or Ums while still hitting lots of really good points! Easy to watch video.
Oh my gosh! I’ve had a small circular saw and haven’t been brave enough to try it. It came in a bundle. I’ve tackled the air strike, love it and jigsaw. I have used all your tutorials to get me motivated. I am using my circular saw today! I am Serena! Thanks! 👊🏼
Thank you for this informative info. You take the fear out of using a saw. I am a 68 year old woman looking to replace my rotten front steps and you have given me the confidence to do it.
I love you videos you do more work than any youtuber you actually have to build thing and you actually teach people stuff yet you are not noticed love you.😀😁👍❤🔨⛏⚒🛠🗡📏📐🔧🔩🛒⛓🔗
LOL, exactly! It's very time consuming doing videos and blog posts, but that I actually have to MAKE stuff. I talk to other bloggers who just write and I'm like, "But you're just writing. I could write all day!" But doing projects, filming them, editing them, is time consuming. But once you do it and hopefully do it well, the video lives on forever. :) Thank you for the kudos!
Thank you so much for these Ryobi tool videos. I was afraid of my circular saw, and was fine with it after watching this one. The same with your jigsaw video! My mantra is now "if Serena can do it, so can I".
I just received a Ryobi 5 1/2" circular saw I ordered on Amazon. I have never used an type of power saw so needed some tutorials, this tutorial has really helped. I will probably watch it several times before actually using my little saw.
Great tutorial! I never understood why my cuts were a little off until you mentioned to cut outside of the line. Noone will hear me swear from now on! Thanks for the tip.
I just unpacked my Ryobi 7 1/4 cordless circular saw and watching your tutorial helped so much! Thank you for your tips and for taking the mystery out of using a circular saw. You ROCK Serena!!!
Thanks for explaining how to operate the Ryobi circular saw. I will for sure buy one today from Home Depot. You make it look easier, but i'll see if it's really simple to use. Anyway thanks again for your video.
I was lucky to have a dad who believed everyone needed to learn and use hand and power tools. I love my battery powered tools. By the way, I loved seeing you in the Duluth catalog!
You WERE lucky, indeed! My grandfather was a carpenter but he retired way before I became interested in power tools. I never got to learn from him, but he was proud of me following in his footsteps! He would be overjoyed to know I am in carpentry classes! :) Oh, and glad you enjoy the catalogs! I always am a little shocked to see myself in there, too. LOL
I bought a circular saw about a month ago. had someone else cut the wood I needed because I was to nervous to try the saw 🤦🏽♀️. After watching this, I think I will give it a try. Thanks😊
Thank you! The instructions manuals are always a nightmare to read thru and every other video I've found doesn't really explain much and I was getting frustrated. This was great! 🙌
Loved this tutorial. Quick & straight to the point and very informative.Never used a saw in my life and didn’t just want to use it without knowing how it works and other videos only show how to cut and not adjust anything or really show the saw works. Thank you!
I have a Dewalt Circular saw, but I'm still trying to organize a work area. I will ALWAYS be open to learning more..so thank you so much for your teaching videos. We all have a learning curve to overcome. Keep up the good work and many blessings..from your Southern MD sister..MLG aka fruitfullspirit
Maryland in da house! :) I hear ya on the work area set up. That's the hardest part. It has to be a place that can get dirty, yet can be organized, too, for all your things. It takes time. :)
Just bought my first circular saw. Ryobi 7-1/4". The instruction manual was good, but I learn better from seeing and hearing. I am so glad your tutorial came up first. This was so very informative, really like the safety instructions too! Keep it up. I also watched the jig saw and learned I can do more than I've been doing. Thank you!
This is my first time using a circular saw. Honestly I was a little afraid but after watching this video, I am ready to go. The most accurate one of all. Thank you!
Thank you!!! I’m buying all ryobi because of your tutorials! I’m laying floors so I had to get this saw. I was avoiding using the saw and leaving my areas where cut planks were supposed to go, blank! I realized i had to learn to cut the planks to do a descent job so to your tutorial I went! Thanks friend! Here I go!
I’m usually sexist when it comes to learning about tools but you were the only one who did a how to on this saw and I’m really glad I found your video! Not only did you explain a lot, you seem to like Ryobi just like me lol. Subscribed! 👍🏽
thanks for the info I want to start working when I want to not when I have to wait and wait for someone to come help me. I have been waiting for maybe 10 or more years for someone to help me repair a broken fence. I am tired of waiting. you have given me confidence to do this.
I'm so glad I came across your videos! I'm new to power-cutting tools like different saws and this has definitely helped explain things and gave me a little more confidence to try them. Thank you for sharing.
Really enjoying seeing another woman using power tools online. Love your energy and teaching skills. Please make more :) I'd also enjoy knowing if when using a specific tool you have encountered issues due to weight or stiffness that would be fine for a bulky guy who can use brute force but just is hard to work with for those of us who aren't. Any extra tips you are using to palliate would be greatly appreciated.
I cannot thank you enough for this video. I'm not sure how old they are but honestly as someone who's so scared to use any power tool I'm just starting to dive into exploring this side of crafting. ❤
Awww, I know, it's scary! But you can do it. Just respect the tool, learn its "ins" and "outs," and you can make so many more things. I'm putting together a power tools course online that you might be interested in. Just add your name and email and I'll email you when the course is ready! thriftdiving.com/tools
IMPORTANT: Always keep both hands on the circular saw for safety. Buy a set of clamps and always clamp down your pieces before you cut them to keep them stable and to allow both hands on the saw. The circular saw is the most useful and the most dangerous.
Yeah. Some serious precautions were missed here. People will do this without clamps after seeing this video and end up with severe injuries. Big thumbs down.
@@Shaun1985two hands isn’t always needed and neither are clamps. What you do need is “support” to make sure the board is secure so when you make the cut the saw or board doesn’t slip.
Thank you Serena, this is a very helpful video. I love how you keep the explanations simple yet you manage to be very thorough in your instructions. Power tools can be very intimidating for a beginner so I really appreciate these tutorials. Can you please do a tutorial on the kreg drill. Thanks for the great videos ☺
Thank you for the tips / instructions!! Trying to diy a bench made from a twin bed that I saw someone else do by another woman. Made me feel more confident to try and use myself without my husband around. Tips and tricks are an awesome addition for projects down the line. Teaching my daughter at the same time!! Thx 👍🏼👍🏼
Once again... excellent demo!👍😃 I love power tools but I have ALWAYS been intimidated by circular saws (and chain saws). I think it's the excruciatingly loud noise because as far back as my young childhood the noise of a circular saw scared me. They are definitely a must-have for any serious DIY-er though so maybe if I start out with a smaller one, it wouldn't be as loud. LOL! Thanks for sharing!
THANK YOU! I have watched a bunch of tutorials on how to use my circular saw. Every single dude did not even mention that there was a safety button. I was supposed to be psychic and just know despite never having been around these tools ever before.
This instruction was incredibly thorough, well-paced throughout the entire presentation with both oral and visual examples and scaled camera angles. I now feel much more confident (with safety precautions of course) to begin my work... thank you!
Have you ever considered seeing if there is a makers space near you? Just do a Google search and type in "[your state] maker's space". Here in Maryland, there is a spot in Baltimore that has power tools as well as CNC professional cutting machines and more and they teach you how to use that stuff. It's called Open Works. Also, check for local Woodcraft classes. They have woodworking classes at their locations, as well as stores attached to buy supplies. Good luck!
Brilliant video - love that you are a lady . Hints about jewellery excellent and generally I went from scared to okay... I got this .I know what to do . Thanks so much.
Hi Serena, just happened upon your video and watched it, so late to the comments. I always like to watch and check out any “how to’s “ concerning Circular saws. A lot of misguided and downright unsafe videos on RU-vid. I must say, I enjoyed your video, and a big thumbs up! You easy on the eyes as well! 😄😉😉 I appreciate your approach and your comments on safety, and oh my gosh, you cut correctly with the saws! An Old timer told me long ago, ‘blade side, waste side.’ You were using left handed blade saws here, and I realize that it is not always practical to cut that way. But the wider part of the base should be on the uncut portion of the material. But, I digress. Short, concise, and solid video. Maybe a bit too short, but you covered most of the basics. Just wanted to say hi. You don’t need my approval. 😉 Thanks for promoting safe and sensible usage of this potentially harmful tool! Stay safe and Healthy! 👍👍👍🙏✌🏻😁🇺🇸
Super helpful video! I am a first time homeowners attempting several DIY projects and this tutorial gave me exactly what I need to operate my Ryobi circular saw! Many thanks
