A handy little coin cell holder that holds a CR2032 battery.

We show you how to use it and how to add LEDs to it. This little holder has an easy on/off switch already added to it. So you can twist on your LEDs, cover the connections, and press the button to turn on your LEDs. We suggest using our shrink tube to protect your connections. The shrink tube is found here evandesigns.co...

This video helped a lot in deciding on what I needed for my project.

We are glad to hear that. We try hard to make it easier to use LEDs and batteries to light projects.

Great video. This may sound dumb, but how about a video on how to use the holding wax. It may sound simple, but examples on how to use it could be helpful.

Thanks! I am glad you like this video! Thank you also for the suggestion on our Holding Wax, we can work on making that one too!

I like the set up. I'm a little leary. No resister at all? for the L.E.D.s? I have smoked quite a few LEDS.

hi Greg! I am glad you like our setup. An LED's voltage requirement is based on the color. The colors that need a resistor even for 3 volt are red, orange, yellow. This is true of any size LED from 0201 to 5050 and from 1.8mm to 5mm. The red, orange, yellow need a resistor for 3 volt. Other colors: Warm white, cool white, blue will operate just fine with no resistor on 3 volt. Green depends on the manufacturer. Our green is 3 volt with no resistor needed. So at a guess, if you have "smoked" an LED or two then they had to be one of the "citrus colors" red, orange, yellow. In our 3 volt LEDs evandesigns.com/products/3-volt-solid-leds and evandesigns.com/products/chip-nano-pico-leds we always add a resistor to those colors that need one to operate. And our LEDs are guaranteed to work well with our power supplies evandesigns.com/pages/evan-designs-guaranteed

I'm looking to buy this for a project, although I am worried about the battery life. I'll only be using one, tops 2 led lights, but 14 hour time is just to small of a window for my project. Any thoughts? Is there a small chargeable solution solution perhaps? Because switching coin batteries isn't optimal for what I'm doing.

hi Jakob the little coin cell is great when you don't need a really long run time. But if you need longer and rechargeable I wonder if our USB connector evandesigns.com/products/usb-type-a-power-supply-cable might work for your project? You can use any power brick with it and you will have hours and hours of run time.

Would it be possible to add a USB-C coin cell battery charger to the circuit?
@EvanDesigns
@EvanDesigns 2 года назад
Sorry I am not familiar with those. You would have to be sure to use a rechargeable coin cell if you wanted to add one! And some rechargeable batteries do not get all the way to 3 volt.

Can you hook up 7 SMD's with one the coin cell holder?
@EvanDesigns
@EvanDesigns 3 года назад
Hi! Yes you can hook up seven LEDs, in fact we have found that up to 10 LEDs light nice and brightly with this coin cell. Above 10 the LEDs will still light but they will not be as bright as they could be, it will not hurt them or the coin cell to go over 10.

@@EvanDesigns Thanks for getting back with me. this sounds great, I build models for clients and this to me is the thing I can use for sure. So I know you said LED's but that incluses SMD's? The SMD's I use are rated for 9-12V

@@wraith20072007 The coin cell is only 3 volt So it will not be able to like your 9 to 12 volt LEDs. We do have a battery snap with switch hereevandesigns.com/collections/wire-switch-more/products/battery-snap-switch-combo
