Great, very clear explanation. I've wanted another flexshaft. You have helped me know which one I need.

This is really cool! I work at Josten's setting small stones ( < 6 mm ) so it's cool to see the differences and similarities.

Just bought the LX for a fine jewelry course I'm taking in September. This video popped up just in time for me! I appreciate you showing how this hammer hand piece works. I'll have to check out your other videos about this and the vise. I think I bought that too, or maybe I got the smaller one. Lol

Hi Melissa! Thank you so much for sharing this video! This one as well as the one on altering the the tips of the anvils were just what I needed! Now… is it possible for you to perhaps do a video on how to use the sinusoidal stake! My husband purchased one for me for Christmas a couple of years ago and I must admit, I’m a bit perplexed! I cannot find a single video anywhere on how to use it!!! Also, Bill Fretz just put out a limited edition set of synclastic and anticlastic stakes (with the holder!!!). These are a lot different from the stakes I already own. Again, no info available! Can you work in a video… maybe.. someday? I would really appreciate it as would others I’m sure! Thanks again for all of your shares. I’ve learned so much and owe so much of my knowledge to you!

Sorry. I would. But I don’t have any of those stakes. I do have a video coming up on the anticlastic and synclastic forming with the FRETZ stakes

Thank you for your response. Geez, I wonder if anyone is ever going to do a video on that stake! I’ll just keep trying to figure it different ways to use it. I have made a couple of pieces but there has to be more… I should hopefully get an alert when your new video comes out because I asked for to be advised. Unfortunately, I did this a long time ago (at least a couple of years ago) and I’ve yet to be notified. I’ll keep watching! Again, you do amazing work and are an inspiration to all of us who strive to improve our own skills. Thank you so very much for that! Teri

Very good tutorial, I gave up on the springs they just keep breaking, and at $ 75 per tip I now make my own.

What are the springs that keep breaking? I am not understanding what that is.

@@ZuniMountainNM As mentioned in the video, springs are attached between the drive cable and the handpeice

Good day, is it possible to lower the power of the hammer as I think it's still too heavy on lighter materials like bone. I am a Scrimshaw artist and would like to use it for stippling on bone or ivory. Your reply will be highly appreciated

There is a silver knob that you can twist to give the anvil points more or less power. If you need even less than that, it will be done by hand control.

I've been trying to use a handpiece from Amazon to set really thick silver and it doesnt have the power to push the metal before the tip slips and doesn't actually push. Is this a similar problem that the more expensive models have?
@MelissaMuir
@MelissaMuir Год назад
There is a silver screw knob that will allow you to change the strength of your hit. Play with that to see if it makes a difference.
@YarHarFD
@YarHarFD Год назад
@@MelissaMuir the silver knurled ring doesnt seem to do much. I can push against the tip with my thumb and stop it. Whats the normal strength for these things? I normally use a small hammer and a custom hand-held tip and the handpiece doesnt have a fraction if the strength of a good wack of the hammer.
@MelissaMuir
@MelissaMuir Год назад
@@YarHarFD hmmm you shouldn’t be able to stop it. Without seeing it, it is hard to know. But I use mine all the time for heavy bezels and such.
