Hi, this video shows you how to use a HDMI switch to connect up to 5 devices to the one HDMI port. It is really useful if you have run out of HDMI ports. Many thanks Vince
That's great Vince, thanks. I had connected it up correctly but I needed your video to show me that I needed to then go to the TV remote to put it to HDMI 1. So simple now you've explained it.
Saved me from returning the device. I thought you had to use the supplied power cord and when its plugged into a power source it doesn't work. thankfully I stumbled on your video. helped a lot thanks !!
Thank you, Vince, I just purchase one that is pretty much identical to yours from Amazon. It looks like I am the 1st one to buy so it is nice to know my money was not wasted!!. I hope this comment can be read because something is wrong with either my keyboard or RU-vid's printing (all garbled). Anyway thanks again!
If you are using this to power your PS4 please use the usb cable to power the hdmi Switcher because if you don’t your screen will flicker from what your playing to Black every ten seconds. Thanks for the info Vince, this proved very handy.
For a retro gamer and a collector who also likes to play all of his games, this boi is AWESOME. I picked up some AV to Hdmi adapters and i made my ultimate gaming setup possible.
Hell yeah, I already knew of these hence looking on RU-vid for a reliable one with a remote, so your link is much appreciated bro! And showing the reliability too. Thanks
Thanks, my TV already had a HDMI switch but while fault finding a problem with the sound bar the connections got mixed up. All OK now as the output to the TV is in the right socket now! Many thanks
When I plugged my nintendo switch into my hdmi switcher, it doesn't work even though my PC works with it. any help? EDIT: I got it to work by turning off the "HDMI Auto Switch" feature on my BenQ monitor.
And your BenQ monitor was plugged into what? Your Switch or the PC? I'm having the same problem. PC has two displays connected to it. BenQ monitor using DVI and HDMI to TV (using Switcher like in the video). PS4 goes to the Switcher too using HDMI but TV only reads the PC and not the PS4. It used to work fine before but we moved, changed our setup and got a newer TV so I'm wondering what's wrong.
It really helps to see it in action and expain in detail about it. You do it the way it should be done. Have seen some "info vids" that attempt to type on screen about it while playing loud music in the background (whic is also distracting). Great job!!!!!!!!!
I have that 5to1 HDMI selector model + IR cable and remote like yours but my own works without the USB power cable. On my 5to1 HDMI selector: . Input 1: Blu-ray Disc player . Input 2: AVtoHDMI converter (connected to the 4to1 AV selector with my SNES and N64 systems hooked on to it) . Input 3: Nintendo Wii . Input 4: Nintendo Switch . Input 5: Not in use (Fully tested and works)
I actually use one of this on my single port 1080p monitor to plug my androidtv box, ps3, ps4, pc, and xbox360, all worked fine. though I modded mine to cut out the 5v rail on each hdmi port to avoid backfeeding on other HDMI source as a lot of them are just shared on single 5volt rail on the hub.
Thanks, when you use it on a PS4 it has to be powered so either buy a HDMI switch with a Power Supply or you can get little USB barrel jacks and then you can power it from a spare USB port on the TV or Xbox etc.
Hey man can you help me out. I have my splitter connected to my ps4 and tv box but the ps4 has no sound and they both have to be off to switch between tv and ps4. Any ideas?
Amazing video mate. I have the same device, I could get the hdmi working but my remote is not working when using to switch the channels. I have plugged in the IR to the device, do I need to connect it somewhere for the remote to work ?
Thanks Vince, I'm planning on buying a monitor that got a 2.0v HDMI port. All HDMI switches in my budget are 1.4v. Do you think the coupling goes fine ?
One question though, can I invert it and connect one input to up to 5 different outputs? Say you have a TV and a Projector, could you use it to switch between those 2?
Thanks for the video. I tried mine and there was a problem when I tried to connect with two computers (Macbook pro and Mac mini). I used the USB wire and it didnt help. It couldnt recognize one of my computers. Not sure what's wrong but will try another computer to see if it was the switch. Update: I tried another computer (a PC) and it works. I wonder if it was because my mac mini has better video card/specs that draws more power to the unit. Not totally sure...
Did you have a cable box like direct tv? I have only 2 hdmi in back of tv... I have direct tv in hdmi1 and i have a roku hdmi in the 2nd one.. My problem is i want to hear my tv and roku apps through a older model dvd player that only has an hdmi input. Was trying to see if this switcher thing would help.
I've got the same model you got bud it doesn't work unless I have 2 working inputs at the same time, my pc and ps4 on an lcd monitor. Is this something has to do with the 5v cable as I'm not connecting any?
Hi there. Just curious what would you use to make a laptop have more hdmi ports? I have a dual monitor and laptop working. But my laptop hdmi port is taken because it’s being used for the monitor to do the dual screen. I need more ports so I can connect my sons switch, pa4 & Xbox. Without interfering with the dual screen that’s set up.
Does this still work if I want to use a Computer Monitor as the main one? Like I have my computer working normally with two monitors but then I can switch one of the computer monitor to display my nintendo switch for example?
I use this switcher for my 4 DVR'S and it works great, my question is how do I connect a mouse for easy control to my DVR'S ? I get tired of having to manually switch the mouse.
is installing the infrared sensor hard what port does that use ? i kinda want one as i only have 2 of em one for my digi recorder and one for my switch but i also would like to use my mini snes and a tablet on ym tv as it is not a smart tv
Is it possible to buy one with more than 1 output? I bought a $9 splitter from Amazon with 1 input and 4 outputs as I need to run HDMI from my laptop (burnt out screen) to 2 TVs that I'm using for computer monitors however, I've discovered that I can't set it to extend display in order to allow me to drag windows across the 2 screens. According to comments on splitter tutorials, I need a switcher, not a splitter. It shows both tvs as display 2 instead. I need one as display 1 and the other as display 2. I can't seem to find one on Amazon with more than 1 output on a switcher though which is a problem for me. I can't afford anything super expensive either.
Hi mate I’m looking for one of those hdmi port testers that you have to test continuity between the port and the pins! Checked eBay and struggling! Cheers
I notice that you didn't connect the power adapter and neither did I on mine and the unit works just fine. What is the power adapter for? If the unit works without it, why do they include it? Good video, thanks!
I just bought one but it says I need to use hdmi 1.4 but can I use 2.0 as well or exactly 1.4 and also it didn't come with the do usb cable so is it the hdmi or the plug
In my set up I didn't work in any configuration. I've got 5 hdmi systems and only my 360 and switch worked. I'm still on the look out for a decent hdmi switch because I don't wanna swap the cables whenever I wanna record some game footage.
Does this thing work with computer monitors too? I've only got one hdmi input in my monitor and I often switch from playing on my pc to my xbox one and it's kind of annoying switching cables everytime I want to play one or the other.
I just bought the exact model you have and the switch will not get any power or picture. I have a cable box from our local provider and was wondering if that would interfere with it? I also tried the USB to see if I could get power no luck. Any suggestions.
