Hi... recently i made some lc of blue Oyster mushroom. Used them on grain jar . They colonized nicely. Then i stored the syringes in ziplock bag in a fridge. After 2 week when i used them again,all the jars got contaminated by the same mold . Help me...

Hi, sorry to hear that you ran into mold problems. First of all, it happens to everyone! Don't get discouraged. Without more information, it's impossible to know for sure where the mold got in. But my first guess is the needle... did you use a fresh, pre-sterilized needle for the second round of inoculations? Because of the plastic connector, it is difficult to flame sterilize the needle. You can put it in the pressure cooker with your grain jars to re-sterilize it. My second guess is the cap. Leaving the cap on the counter then putting it back on the syringe can be a point of entry. Hope that helps!

I have a lc syringe of Oyster mushroom. First I tested it on sterilised wheat grain in a test tube . After seeing healthy growth I used it to inoculate 3 jars of sterilised wheat grain. Even after a week no growth. But the test tube is completely colonised now. What could be the reason?

Did you prepare the test tube and the jars exactly the same? If the grain was overcooked it could lean to a no-grow. Also, if you have an older, thinner LC and don't mix the syringe, you can end up dumping all of the mycelium in one go and the rest is just water.

@@_fungaia out of 20 jars only 3 jars showing no growth. A week ago I again inoculated it with another lc along with other 10 jars but still these 3 jars showing no growth but the rest is growing normally. I still remember good amount of mycelium getting transferred into all 3 jars . I used the same syringe to make a fresh lc and the lc is growing. Jars don't look like bacterial.

@@ah1864 Sounds to me like an issue with those jars. When you open them up, smell them to see if biological contaminants are present (they won't necessarily be visible). Chemical contamination is also a possible explanation.
