Hi Jamie, so glad to hear that you were able to find yourself a Minolta AF-E! These cameras are really nice, I love the way they fit in my hands and also the fact that the lens is protected:) Happy to hear that my video was able to help you load the camera. Have fun shooting and greetings from Berlin:)

Thank you for this video man! It really helped me navigate my first film cam. I was wondering what’s the compartment between the rewind & battery on 0:52 for? Is that the film cartridge holder?

hi i just put fresh batteries in and film in (just as you have shown) and the shutter button doesn’t work (it has no noise). not sure if it’s working or not 😢

Hi there! If the batteries are fresh and the camera makes no sounds (also when you're loading the film and nothing happens) that's usually a bad sign. Have you already taken a look at the battery contacts? Sometimes they are dirty, especially when the owner before forgot to remove the batteries and they leaked... if that's the case, try some cleaning alcohol and cotton swabs :) All the best, V

Hello ! Thank you for your video, it’s very well explained! I have a question, I found an AF-E, when I put batteries the flash works and I hear the film location (idk how it’s called aha) roll. However I don’t know if my rewind button works. If your camera has no film and you press the rewind button, is there any noise? Because mine doesn't make any sound, and I'd like to avoid wasting a film to test it aha. Thank you

Hello there and thanks for commenting. I am not sure if the camera makes a sound if you press the rewind button without firm inside of the camera. What I would suggest is put a roll of into the camera shoot it, and if the camera is not able to rewind the film, going into a dark space where there is absolutely no light and manually put the film back into the canister. all the best and good luck with your camera!

Hallo! Valentin

Hi, I was wondering Why is my operating bottom not working on my minolta af-e, and the camera just keeps on winding? Thank you

Hi, so if my film is iso400 so my ISO setting should be set at 400 right? Or I can use auto set?
@valentinsfotoparadies8708
@valentinsfotoparadies8708 Год назад
Hi Shaheera Azmi, thanks for your question! It depends if the film has DX-Code reading. (google it real fast, it's not so easy to explain.) If it does not have DX Code reading, you should set the ISO to 400. If it does, you can set it to auto. If you are shooting color negative film, it can be nice to overexpose your film, i.e. setting the ISO to 200 for a 400 ISO film in order to overexpose it by one stop. If you have any more questions, let me know :) All the best, V

Its been many years since i last switched on my camera and now when I am inserting new cells its not switching on however the battery compartment is warm
@valentinsfotoparadies8708
@valentinsfotoparadies8708 Год назад
That does not sound good. Have you tried pushing the batter compartment cover in a little bit? If it switches on then, maybe a piece of tape can be a more permanent solution. Wishing you luck! V

The flash can not be manually turned off. It will activate automatically if the camera thinks it’s necessary.

Hey!

Hast Du vielleicht zuviel FIlm herausgezogen? LG
@SwanteRahmel
@SwanteRahmel Год назад
Can you use the rewind to do double exposures?
@valentinsfotoparadies8708
@valentinsfotoparadies8708 Год назад
Yes in theory you can, but be aware of: 1.) for a double exposure you want to 1/2 the amount of light for both exposures to receive a fully exposed negative. This camera would automatically expose it correctly which means if you rewind it back and shoot over the same film, it will be strongly overexposed. You can still give it a try, maybe try some old expired film and it might make for some nice results. All the best, V PS: When you rewind the film, try to stop the rewinding process before the film is completely inside of the canister :)
@SwanteRahmel
@SwanteRahmel Год назад
@@valentinsfotoparadies8708 I taped over the DX encoding on the film and adjusted the ISO in the camera settings from 200 to 400, such that the settings are correct. Also I only shot 34 pictures in the first "half", so I don't have to worry about the film being completly in the canister. I also only shot architecture and buildings on the first 34 shots and only portraits after that. We'll see how that will turn out!

hi, i just bought a second hand minolta and don’t have any experience with film cameras, but i’m struggling to load it. i think i might have pulled too much film out and i’m not sure how to get it to load now :( when the batteries are in and i press the shutter it just makes a whirring sound and doesn’t stop until i remove the batteries. do you have any idea what i can do? thanks :)
@valentinsfotoparadies8708
@valentinsfotoparadies8708 2 года назад
Hi Ellen, it sounds to me like the camera's motor has some sort of issue. Take out the film and the batteries and then but the batteries back in. When you are loading the film, make sure that you do not put too much film into the camera. All the best V

Hi Ted, what do you mean by "my camera flashes red" ? Do you mean when you look through the viewfinder it just blinks red? Does the lens open if you press the shutter button? Have you tried changing the batteries? All the best, Valentin
