Best video on how to use a recip saw! I watched videos that do very detailed and lengthy reviews but not on showed how to start the saw before it touches the material you’re cutting. This video was, short and to the point. Thank you.

My cheap Mcallister saw is way better than I expected from this type of saw. I ought to have bought one years ago.

Finally got my tree branches cut using my new saw ru-vid.comUgkx84IcU5pbZd1Qrz8u4-YRLmJax7kdRi7B , and it was effortless. Then tackled taking pallets apart by just cutting through the nails. Zip Zip, like butter, took no time at all! Absolutely love that you just push a button to change the blade, so quick and easy. I chose cordless because of all the outside projects I need to do, and most are too far to extend an extension cord to. Incredibly lightweight, and easy to handle. I will be using this all the time. There is a reason they call them Sawzalls , because they literally saw all the things you need cut. Once you buy one you'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner ~ Just make sure and buy the right blades for the job you want to tackle. The blades are not expensive, and there are lots of various multi-packs available.

Sawzall is another name for this tool. :)

A lot of people hate on this tool because of its less than perfect effectiveness at certain tasks. They recommend Jigsaws, circle saws,band saws, or multitools any time a Sawzall is used in a situation those specific tools excel in what they do. But fail to realize how all of those tools fail horribly at each other's primary function. While a Reciprocating saw can achieve all of their functions with enough mastery. Its called a Sawzall for good reason.
@travis8753
@travis8753 5 лет назад
Reciprocating saws can never cut with the precision of a circular saw or jigsaw on wood, and are terrible compared to a band saw for cutting pipe, metal angle accurately. They can do everything really well if you don't care at all about accuracy...or just want to 'cut shit'. That's what their role is, they'll never replace tools designed to do certain jobs.
@leeschmitz993
@leeschmitz993 2 года назад
It’s a demolition tool, @Irvine. If you’re using it for intricate, and accurate cuts in wood, or metalworking, you’re using a potentially dangerous tool for the wrong kind of work.
@acidforblood
@acidforblood 2 года назад
@@leeschmitz993 Would a multi-tool or oscillating saw be better for accurate cuts when compared to this. I don't plan to use it for demo but for fine type of jobs where accuracy is important.

Can electric saw use for meat/bone cutting?
@ChefJasonMorse
@ChefJasonMorse 3 года назад
Hi Johnny, jumping in to answer this. Chef Jason here, Ace's BBQ expert. I would not recommend using it for any meat fabrication, these saws are not NSF approved which means they can't be sanitized fully. Sanitation is a huge thing with meat saws, I suggest finding a Butcher Hand Meat Saw. You will be able to take that apart fully and ensure its clean and sanitized properly. Hope that helps. Happy Cooking, Chef Jason

Thanks for the information. I just bought my first Reciprocating saw. one quick question. I have the same blade locking mechanism, which locks the blade in, but it still has a little bit of movement up and down. Is this normal? Garry from Australia.
@AceHardware
@AceHardware 6 лет назад
Hi Garry, There may be some slight give either way once the blade in locked in - however there should not be much movement up or down. Once the blade is locked into place - the blade should not be able to be pulled out; if this happens then the blade was not locked into place securely. Hope that helps! Let us know if you have more questions arise from your new purchase!

I've watched 5 reciprocating saw videos so far and not one has talked about orbital vs straight cutting and when each is used. Still looking...
@big1finger
@big1finger 7 лет назад
If you want straight cutting, tip the blade head 90 degrees and the blade 180 degrees and pull straight to you.. If you can't do this with your current saw you need to get rid of it and get one that does.

Can the reciprocating saw do finesse, nice cuts like for finishing carpentry and nice pieces? And when you cut metal do you need a special blade for that?
@insertphrasehere15
@insertphrasehere15 2 дня назад
A RS is the wrong tool for fine cuts. It's a jack of all trades but leaves a messy cut. It can do the job of lots of other tools, but doesn't do it as cleanly or as safely. For carpentry a table saw or bandsaw is generally going to leave you with a finished cut, where a RS will leave you with a mess. Is it possible? yeah, with some cleanup maybe, but it's not worth your time and effort. A RS is best used for what it is good at: rough cuts during demo or where the quality of the cut doesn't matter because it isn't exposed in the finished product.

When cutting through a 1 inch diameter branch, should the shoe be in contact with the branch, i.e. pressing against the branch?

Ideally, though if you have it held well enough with both hands you can get away without.

Is the blade supposed to be jiggly when not in use ? Seems like there's too much play in it....so I'm afraid to turn it on. Anyone know please?
@AceHardware
@AceHardware 5 лет назад
Hi Lila, The blade should be secure in the mount of the saw not loose at all. The blade itself flexes but not at the point where the blade mounts to the tool. If you want to feel more comfortable, you are welcome to bring it in to your neighborhood Ace store and they can review it with you!
