I would like to thank you for your turning videos. With your instructions I was able to feel safe and safely turn my first piece of wood from square stock to a round piece of poplar with coves and beads. I'm moving on to try a honey dipper today. Again thanks for your great information and safety when making my first cuts
Thanks so much... now, I thought I was supposed to Anchor on the rest and come in contact with the Bevel (not cutting edge) then lift until cutting, but it didn't seem like you were in contact of the wood with the bevel at all, but rather started cutting with the edge by the time any wood contact was made, skipping the bevel contacting the wood first...?
Great question. Because speeds will vary greatly depending on the size of the blank as well as the species of wood being turned. I am hesitant to recommend speeds because someone could mis-understand the information I provided and incur a serious injury as a result of using an improper speed. There are a few websites that will give basic starting points for speed settings.
