I love this! I love giving couples Pyrex covered dishes with their names etched on it for their wedding, but it had never occurred to me to do something on wood. Thanks for this great video!
Where did you get the thingy that's holding your rolls of vinyl? Did you guys make it? I'd like tips or suggestions on setting up / organizing my studio. My machine and supplies just arrived. Perhaps a video showing your studio??? Thanks much. 😊
Depending on your design, you can save money by using a cereal box and the cut function next time to create a reusable stencil. No need for Transfer Tape or Vinyl.
You could use a thin cereal box. Most designs are going to contain pieces that are not attached like, the dot inside of the E that Lisa places back down at 0:49. With fonts and other non basic shapes you will want to use sign vinyl to help the details really.. POP! TRW Casey
Jen, That is the transfer tape that we sell! It's called R-Tape and it's a low-medium tack! Link is below! therhinestoneworld.com/Sign-Vinyl-Application-Tape TRW Alexis
Cool, but seems labor intensive. Wouldn't this be easier to make a stencil out of something that wont burn easily, tape the stencil to the object and then use an open flame to burn the wood while the stencil is in place?
That works too. But it’s a bit slower. It’s definitely more fun with the silhouette:) That said, I used carbon paper for the year or so I had between my old silhouette dying and being able to afford the new one.
You can use any Adhesive vinyl with fairly strong grip. This looks like the FDC sign vinyl we used often years ago. We now prefer our ColorSpark Permanent Adhesive Vinyl. -TRW Pilar
It is very pretty! Unfortunately, I'm not sure as it's not a font we carry. I think our TRW Flutter 3 font would be similar and just as pretty, though. 😊 - TRW Haley
Stephanie, Unfortunately, there isn't really a way to reuse the decal vinyl. However, you can get the plain colors (since it's a stencil, the color shouldn't matter) for under a dollar per foot. TRW Alexis

A couple reasons, the main one being the software. Cricut is web-based and can be slow. Silhouette is a program on your computer and has more designing capability as well. You can also cut without a cutting mat with the Silhouette. :) - TRW Lisa
No the wood burner. I can't tell what tip you use. You said small type and I got 3 for Christmas wood burning and none has what look like the tip you are using. I am having problem making it thin
I use just a normal HB pensil that we use at school. It doesn't go off with our hand and you can fix the design with an cheap school eraser. Simple like that.
Hello! We have two different kinds of application type. The one in the video is our R-Type application type. That comes on a 12"x100yd roll (www.therhinestoneworld.com/Sign-Vinyl-Application-Tape). The other kind of type we have is the FDC 2670 Series Application Type. You can purchase that type by the foot. It is also gridded so you can aline your design easily (www.therhinestoneworld.com/FDC-2670-Series-Application-Tape). - TRW Aaron
