How To Use A Snatch Block to Spin A Car 

This is a good video to show the dynamics of positioning a car, using the equipment at hand and going on the assumption that the car can't start and move under its own power. The one item I find any fault with is the attachment point on the car. I would have attached to the driver's side to give it a little more range in swinging the front end across. I also am a flatbed operator and rarely use my snatch block. for what it's worth, I would have attached a J-hook on the driver's side control arm, making sure that the angle wouldn't cause the point to make contact with anything that could be damaged in the action. After checking, I bring the small end toward the pocket on the passenger side of the bed. If it's not long enough, I use the second chain to reach the first one or option a closer pocket. I typically assure that the back end of the car stays put with a 4x6 in front of the tires in addition to the park brake. Once ready, I slide the bed forward, tightening the chain(s) and moving the car's front end laterally toward the bed. usually it takes two to three pulls, depending on the distance needed to aim the car at the truck. It's way quicker done than described. The biggest advantage in this method is that the chain can be kept very close to the ground and therefore it doesn't get into the bodywork fascia. Of course that's a very minor consideration for a car that was being driven on its roof just a bit earlier.

Thanks for your videos. I'm thinking of starting a one man tow operation and I appreciate the info. Don't have a whole lot of money to buy a truck , so I'm looking at using a sling truck to get started, is this a good idea?

A question asked by my girl. If the car don't go into gear, and or the ebrake doesn't work... how does the car trail properly when using the snatch block? Perhaps a video on this? I worked in Boston for years. Thanks

How bout when the car has no mount on it, I’d like to see them spin it with the tire or the a arm. ..

use the boom to spin the car. you don't need a snatch block in this case, the car is light enough to swing it around be winching it.
