The knot you tied is not a bowline. The most common name for it is a timber hitch, and it is also called a bowyer's knot or a lumberman's knot. A bowline is an entirely different knot, which is not a quick release or adjustable type of knot. A bowline is used for tying a loop in the end of a rope, but it is not the same as the knot you demonstrated.

Bowline is a safety knot, that will NOT slip. You can tie it around a person for example to drag them in an emergency without the risk of accidentally having it constrict them.

Had a question for you? I've have a oak board that soaked with bacon grease like seven years ago the was already in rough tiller state, very flexible for as thick as it is Actually shot a few arrows with it. Problem is that will quickly lose power due to taking to the flex. What I wanna do now is I wanna finish it to be used for bow fishing. Watched about every video you ever made and seem to be the best person to ask. If I were to fiberglass tape back this bow will it stop taking the flex and losing power as it's shot? Could I also use dog bone hide to reinforce more? It does have a natural recurve shape as now as I have it to almost finished shape but not retilled or strung, forgot to add it was a 68" inch start but I have cut it down to a 58" to ad in boat bow fishing. What suggestions would yo have from your all your builds?

My very first bow was an English longbow made of hickory, 71” 40lbs @ 28”. Surprisingly it hasn’t snapped yet. Knock on wood.

Hi, this is just transitioned to RU-vid's new shorts format. As a result, there's no longer a way to set it at 1/4 speed so I can follow it and tie the knot properly. It would be very helpful if you would make it in a non short-format so that the playback speed can be controlled, or just repost it slowed down to 1/4 speed. No need to do anything fancy with the sound, I just need something slow enough to keep up with while watching. Thank you!

Great video, thanks. The only downside of it being a Short, thus it is rather hard to watch it for the 10th time over to conpletely get your instructions, as you can‘t pause or rewind.
