Best way to start the vdb at a specific frame without doing the key frame hack, is to activate a trigger in the heterogeneous voulume. That way you will have full control😊

@@thepixellab2011 Cheers! I was banging my head with the heterogeneous because in my case not only was starting when I wanted, the loop point was different every time I was rendering, so I spent weeks going through the rabbit hole looking for anwsers

Great video! Is there a way in sequencer to key frame the emissivity/density? So it can adjust the variables when you playback

Are there any ways to get the explosions on fire to be very bright and act as a light source, without blowing them out? Or would they need to be made into a blueprint with a lightsource to "cheat" it?

Followed all the steps, however the animation wont play, when i check looping and playing it is stuck at integers that reverse to 0. It wants to play but the last and first frames are 0. I try to enter 129 as last frame of the amount of frames but it wont let me alter the 0 frame at the end, any thing that can help with this?

I can't get the smoke to be black for the love of god. I am using embergen with density on R and temperature on G and flames on B. No matter what I try, the smoke is either white or some other color, but never black. Any suggestions?

Hi, I just got your shockwave collection. I followed this tutorial step by step but no matter what I do in the setting, it's just always black. Would you know why that is? Thanks!

Sorry for the delay! There is currently a bug with 5.4. If you are using 5.4 the workaround is temporarily to import into 5.3 and then migrate the VDB asset to 5.4 and the shaders will work fine. Hopefully Epic will fix this bug soon!

I'm testing this with some of the Embergen free VDBs (Same as WINBUSH used in his video). Not working, just showing an empty square when I select the Heterogenos... Tried importing at different bit-depths, but nothing. Does anyone have any tips? Thank you for the free material, though, would love to buy vbd's from your store, but I can't do it if I can't make them work... 😭

@@Midz13I can only get one of my embergens to work...the others are just a bright white ball of light...weird.

retraction...I can get the embergens to work work, but the temp values have to be something like 0.02 or else it just give a blown out white...still trying to get some black smoke to work...once I have that, I am in love with this plugin.

Is this still working in Unreal 5.4? When I try to use it, I can only get density.

Sorry for the delay! There is currently a bug with 5.4. If you are using 5.4 the workaround is temporarily to import into 5.3 and then migrate the VDB asset to 5.4 and the shaders will work fine. Hopefully Epic will fix this bug soon!

Can we make these VDB smoke , fog interact with a character in an Unreal Engine Sequencer ? Would be great if you can show that. Btw.. Great VDB collection you have. I am considering buying few. My main requirement is the one mentioned above. Could you please throw some light on my query ? Thanks a lot.

The character can interact with the smoke in the sense that as it walks into the VDB it will be covered and obscured by the VDB smoke. It can't interact in the sense that the smoke won't dynamically respond to the character since all the simulation is pre-baked into the VDB sequence. I hope that makes sense. Cheers!

Hmmm.. I imported a cloud VDB and it looks grey and black, and nothing will make it brighter

Even though it seems better than the stock one on UE, It's too bad that it doesn't work on 5.4.
