Good video Jim. Believe-it-or-not... One time I forgot to eve out in my main hitch pin. Dprve 75 miles to my distinatin, Got in and realized I drove all that way with no hitch pin. I could not believeit! Unbelievably lucky!
DEFINITELY rely on what the tires say as a maximum tire pressure.. not the sticker. Ideally the tires all match, and match the sticker. Eventually, down the road as technology changes, the sticker will get outdated. You'll still want the pressure in all 4 tires to be about the same, but rely on a range closer to the maximum of what the tire says, never above. In a newish trailer, that shouldn't be an issue, as the new tires were installed at the factory to match the sticker. ;)
@@DIYJIM already have my friend! Been camping with the family and wanted to double check if I'm hooking up my trailer correctly. The criss crossing of the tow chains is a new one for me. I'm definitely going to do that!
Don't put dielectric grease on any of your electrical connections. Dielectric grease is not conductive, it is an insulator. You are supposed to use the grease on the outside housing of the connector to keep water out.
@@DIYJIM just because you've been using it for years doesn't mean you've been using it correctly. You've been lucky that the electrical contacts are tight enough to scrape away the grease for metal to metal contact. Look up the definition of dielectric grease and read the directions for application. Not conductive, used to insulate electrical connections.
I have airbags also I try to set my distribution hitch so my camper is a little low or level then I put about 30-40 lbs in my bags just to stiffen the rear of my truck.
Ok Jim, before to hook, do I have to keep no air to the air bags or some pressure? Because it will be high to set trailer and truck measurements if with air. Thanks for your help.
Your supposed to try to keep 10 lbs in them all the time. I never check mine but I just try to leave a little in. Hook up then add your air. Hope this helps
