Excellent audio review, Scott! Comparing the equipment and sound side by side was epic for a novice user. Thank you!

The Shure MV7 USB micro to USB A sounded the best. Couldn't hear much noise at all... Surprising. Wonder how well it would do picking up very quiet sounds for ASMR as that's what I'm having the most problem with 🤔 Thanks very much for the comparisons. Really great!

I hear noise from the pod mic on the iPhone. Good but not good enough.

Thanks for the great video and thorough testing! I'm trying record a shure sm7b with a focusrite 3rd gen solo conected to a Samsung s23+ using usb c to usb c in the phone. Unfortunately I only get the left channel when I record with the phone? Is there any way to record stereo or to change setting in the android phone to treat the left channel input as mono?

Everything is good and dandy but the only problem I have is how do I go about monitoring the signal that is going into the phone? The headphone port is used as the input port for the microphone cable, is there any device or cable that will offer me a way to at least monitor the audio signal going into the phone? I tried a few and they all give me a passive signal so their sound is just too faint for monitoring. Any ideas? I'd like to have the capability of monitoring what's being recorded .

Curious...since there is no level adjustment have you adjusted the audio levels after recording?

I bought the XLR to USB cable you used in this vid as well as a USB to lightning adapter for my iphone, and it did not work :( Would you be so kind as to let me know if I'm doing something wrong? I have a condenser mic (the Presonus M7) plugged into the Roland XLR to USB Cable, plugged into the lightning adapter. When I go to record something on either video or voice memo app, no sound comes out. Any suggestions for me? Thanks so much.

Fairly certain it needs to be a dynamic mic since condensers typically need 48V. I think he mentioned this at 0:44.
