How to Use AI to Generate Custom Grant Proposals for Nonprofits

This is the first episode of my new channel Shape of Knowledge. The mission of this channel is to show real world applications of AI that solve important problems. In this episode I show how Claude 2 can be used to automate the grant writing process for nonprofits.
My goal is to not just show how to use AI to achieve good results, but to explain why the methods I am using work. My approach is based on decades of automating knowledge worker tasks, using prior toolsets.
The new AI LLMs will allow us to do more, better, faster than ever before! Even more important, tools like Claude 2 can be used by non-AI-experts with little to no cost. This makes AI automation available to anyone who wants to learn about the new tools. I goal is to provide useful information that will help knowledge workers thrive in this new environment.

This is very helpful, thank you!! I am similarly impressed with a grant proposal generated by Claude based on your suggestions - this could be a game changer for our small, early stage nonprofit. Perhaps you could expand on using Claude to create a robust strategic plan for an existing nonprofit? Also, you mentioned that you have been working with Claude to analyze and summarize legal cases - can you please share more on this? Thanks again, I look forward to your future content!

Thank you, you've really made my day!! A video about writing the plan was exactly what I thought might be a good companion video to this one. What did you use as the input for your Claude test? The focus for our legal work is helping Veterans with claims for PTSD. It is a much more complicated challenge than grant proposals and will probably require many videos as we work our way through the process. We are starting with PTSD, but any approach we develop should work for other disabilities as well. Do you have any suggestions for how I could get the word out to other foundations about this video? I tried the nonprofit subreddit, but the moderators wouldn't allow my posts. They thought it was 'self promotion', which was pretty disappointing since all I'm trying to do is help!

@@ShapeofKnowledgeI'm so glad! Actually, I sort of reverse engineered by first asking Claude to create a strategic plan based on two grant proposals we recently submitted. Then I uploaded a grant description and asked for a structured response based on the strategic plan. The product was surprisingly impressive! Too bad that reddit won't let you post. Have you shared on LinkedIn? Perhaps groups that have incubator programs would be willing to share with their participants? I will share with our colleagues and supporters! Thanks again!

Very, very smart approach to reverse engineer the plan! I'd show that in my strategic plan video, but I don't have any prior applications. I recommend you do a series of shorts, videos that are 59-60 seconds. Ask Claude 2 how to optimize the shorts to reach your target audience of foundations and nonprofits, etc. @@ShapeofKnowledge
