Thank you for an excellent demonstration. It's a great reminder of some of the magic of radio that attracted so many people in the last century. Today we just set our digital display to 3,660.00 and we can be confident we are on frequency - not nearly as much fun as you demonstrated. You have encouraged me to find my BC221 and experiment.
Another great video, many thanks! It reminded me of the 1970s when the British Army sold all their WS-62s and we new hams bought them for /P and /M working. One question, wouldn't the Calibrator No 10 be better for using with the WS-62? It weighs a lot less than the BC-221! 73 Roger
Helge I only understand the broad concept of what you are demonstrating. However, I can picture you in an earlier life operating a radio network in occupied Norway communicating with SOE in London. Keeping and operating those WWII radios is much appreciated. For a future video, I would like to see a demonstration of a German DFing unit. All the best! Patrick from Albuquerque
Thanks for the interesting comment. I was in Albuquerque a few years ago and washed the car in Skylar's car wash. Very fun. I have plans to make a DF video. Where I use a German DF to track down an English spy transmitter. LA6NCA
Helge….First of all, I so much enjoy your RU-vid channel! You do such a very good job! I have a question. It seems many or most crystal manufacturers are now out of business, or they closed long ago. Some of those that are remaining in business, their prices for only one crystal is too much!! Sometimes they want more than $100 USD! 😱. When do you buy crystals, or do you already have all that you need? TKS es VY 73!
Thanks for the nice comment. I have quite a few crystals that I use all the time. Finding new crystals is difficult. There are a few crystals being produced now. They can be found, among others, at DigiKey. There are 3.5795, 3.58, 3.64 and 3.686 MHz These often cost less than a dollar. They are small, so they cannot withstand as much signal as the big old ones.
