Loctite make all sorts of cool products. In this case, watch how I use a retaining compound to stop the neck stem bearing from rotating in the neck.

This video is exactly what I needed to clarify some concerns I have. Thanks for posting!

Thanks for a great video. I've got a similar task ahead on an outboard motor. According to Loctite disassembly can be achieved by heating to 250 C, so there is that option if needed in the future.

Good, thanks for the vid, putting together bearing requiring the use of this 638 but doesn’t explain how to apply it. This clears things up.

Loctite 640 is also great at retaining components, It's used in place of pressing in heavy metal slugs into crankshafts during balancing, Takes place of some whom weld them in which then affects balancing all over again, Have never had one come loose, These are in 4,000+ twin turboed B.B's turning 8,400+rom

Great video, good camera angel, and the fast forward, nice touch. I plan to use this product to repair a loose rear dovetailed gun sight. I hope it will work for that as well. I'll watch for more of your videos. Thanks for the info...

thank you for this video. Exactly my problem (sort of). I have a motor who's shaft bearings are slip fit and cause vibration at higher speeds. The gap is too small to make a sleeve without reducing the motor bells on a lathe which I'd rather not do. I think this is the perfect solution for me

All in all a very good video! You didn’t mention the required cure/fully set time… It would have been nice to hear that… Other than that small detail you did a very good job!! Thank you!!!

before the compound has hardened should you assemble all the stem components including bearings, snug everything down and rotate a few times to insure that the tapers are in perfect alignment ?

Your parts should be made with enough precision that this should be needed.

Yes it is. I'm using Loctite retainer 641 with Loctite primer 7649 on a road bike frame made from carbon fibre to seat the headset bearings.
