I used it for the first time redoing my cabinets thanks for a great tutorial. However the loud music was kind of annoying because I had to keep playing with the volume. Thanks again I will be checking out some of your other videos.

Tip for this repair. Cut a block of wood a little larger than repair. On one side of block tape it with foil duct tape. Apply the bondo to repair and clamp foil side of block on top of bondo. This will leave a level surface over patch and edges can be sanded square. No need to do multiple layers.

Sounds like an viable alternative, We were trying to illustrate the simplicity of using Bondo, Bare minimum.

Platic wood works well too. Just be sure it is stored upside down at all times and put the lid back on immediately after removing the product needed for the repair.

Hey Guys, Vince's voice was very hard to hear and your filler music was insanely loud, mainly because I had the volume up to high to hear Babyface talk. Not complaining though, I thought the repair was bad ass. I've only ever used Bondo on cars.

I do the same thing on these mdf doors we always get damaged doors and it is easier to do repairs ourselves than to send it back for another one cause it takes weeks for the new one to come in...a tip that might be useful for bigger patch jobs I drill 1/8th holes about 3/16th deep on the damaged area and apply the Bond over the area making sure it gets into the holes making the Bondo anchor into the door to make it a bit stronger works for us maybe for you and everyone else too...

Hey Vince, I know automotive speaking if you add to much hardener to the filler when painting the surface of the repair it's possible for the repair area to bleed through the paint. Not sure if you've ever ran into this for your types of applications, I have not myself but I've seen it happen before especially with white. I have a vid somewhere on my page fixing some dents on the 300 at the shop if your interested I can share the link

Been knowing this for years 😂..I work on wood cabinet and fixture displays.if anything breaks we bust out the Bondo and I leave it clean where u will never know I used Bondo on the finished product..dude u don't have to use a big ass drywall tray.😂😂u exaggerated.just a simple nice medium size of laminate and mix the red creme and Bondo.the more red u add the harder it's gonna dry out and turn rock hard..u have to add alil and trial and error to allow u to add the finished product to smear it on the project.u have to work fast and smooth😎time is ur enemy when working with Bondo.👍🏼
@mb_hathaway
@mb_hathaway 3 года назад
What if u don’t add the hardener at all cuz it didn’t came with it 🙄
@tonistarks2874
@tonistarks2874 3 года назад
@@mb_hathaway u have to add the red hardner tube to produce the hardening affect...without it won't work..👍🏼..try a sample on a piece of wood and add alil more red to the grey mix to see results... remember the more u put red to mix the faster the mix is gona harden.the less it will take alil longer just enough time for u to spread it..trial and error...but u will get it👍🏼😎

This info was exactly what I needed, thanks for putting it on here. What grit is that sanding sponge? Also do you ever have problems with bondo not adhering to primer/paint? Great video!
@VCGConstruction
@VCGConstruction 6 лет назад
Knate1104 thanks a lot we appreciate hearing that the information was useful for you. If you’re using bondo over a gloss surface it would probably be good to at a minimum knock the sheen off by sanding. Are you having problems with adhesion?
@Knate1104
@Knate1104 6 лет назад
VCG Construction Well I’m not sure if it’s the bondo or my sanding, probably the latter. There are some small dents on a few primed boards I tried to fill, and it worked well but after sanding I noticed it pulled out of a couple dents. I started at 80 grit sandpaper at first and then moved up to 180. I’m probably sanding it too much but if you have any ideas I’m all ears. Thanks
@VCGConstruction
@VCGConstruction 6 лет назад
Another viewer commented that he drills small holes maybe a few 1/8”s deep into the materials he’s using the bondo on. This helps to “anchor “ the bondo to the material.

Really helpful video, BUT... I'm a little motion sick from the extreme movement of the camera. That's why I've never watched the Blair Witch Project! Also, your narration is so soft that we have to turn up our speakers all the way, then the music blows our heads up when you suddenly crank it up between talking. If you fixed those two things, you probably wouldn't get any thumbs down. Great job explaining the repair. I was here because I wanted to see how much cream hardener you were using.

Just call your buisness VCG Painting if you must but font tell anyone it stands for Very Cool Guys. Please. Its for your own good. And you better use your heat gun to dry that wood out first and use a wood hardener before you stick that polyester filler in those damaged areas. Or else you are literally hust giving someone a repair that lasts 6 to 8 years and 12 at most. You may get lucky if the stuff faces the sun and is dry and free of fungus and bacteria but it isnt worth it.

It works great! I do a ton of concrete foundation crack repair and I use the MixBall to mix up the 2 part epoxy for gluing the injection ports onto the crack and covering the rest of the crack. It’s a lot to mix by hand and has a small open working time. The MixBall is a game changer for mixing epoxy.
